enter Galliani ... with Bosingwa off his list, Darijo would be second only to Dani Alves on his list of preferences ...

I don't think he'll ever leave Shakhtar. He seems happy there, he's a local hero, and the guy that owns the club is extremely rich and can match just about any salary a big club can throw at him. It's not like he hasn't had opportunities to leave in the past either.

fan favourite you mean?

and yeah, he's definitely had opportunities to move before and turned them down, but it's his last chance now to move to a big club now, and that can always make one think ...

it's one of those rare times I'm impressed by Allegri's selection and tactics: diamond midfield -- Seedorf regista, Robinho[od] trequartista -- with Jankulovski starting wingback, and Thiago Silva playing in defence ... if they had been setup more like this in the first leg, with this attacking intent, they wouldn't be chasing the game now ...

lady luck hasn't been on Milan's side so far in this leg: a couple of poor offside calls when the trap had been sprung, most notably by Jankulovski and then Pato; and of course the goal-line clearance from Robinho's miss-shot, where if he had connected cleanly, it was a goal ...

defensively, they've done well by limiting Spurs to only long shots from Raffie, and have done well with Lennon (the 2 man angle mark) ... but Crouch is winning everything in the air ... and with Bale due to come on at some point, there'll be more balls played into Crouchy; it only has to work once for it to be a big problem ...

hoping to see Milan to keep this up in the second half ...

EDIT:

hard luck for Milan ... by far the better team on the night, and there were enough and more chances to seal this one up, with the best of the half once again falling to Robinho's feet ... but this tie was lost -- literally and figuratively -- in the first leg, due to the selection by Allegri in Milan ...

local hero for a club = player is from club's town / country ...

That's inane. He is a hero to the locals and in the area. The phrase isn't in the dictionary, so don't be such a twat about it.

why would "local hero" be in the dictionary? its meaning in sports, not least in football parlance, is as I have described in my post ... it's not an opinion ... don't be afraid to learn ...

Exactly "why would it be in the dictionary". The term isn't defined and you're being a mega-ultra-douchebag-twat right now as you are sometimes prone to be. It is often used as I have described it as you can see if you google something like "'local hero' 'brett favre'" who is from Mississippi.

hah, no wonder you don't like the law field, mate; discussing semantics isn't your thing ...

it's clear where the problem is ... your point is that a "local hero" is one who is a hero to the locals ... my point is that the expression "local hero" [most visibly in sports, especially football] commonly refers to a hero who is a local ...

American sports are murkier when it comes to this, coz you can be a local if you're from the region, but also if your alma mater is from the region ... in football, that distinction doesn't need to be made ...

from what I've heard more than seen, Favre brought the Packers much glory, and is an adopted son there ... just like Hiddink is an adopted son in South Korea after 2002 ... there was talk of 'Favre the local hero' when a move south to the Saints was on, though ...

in English football, Liverpool provides some clear examples: Carra and Stevie G are local heroes at the club ... Kenny Dalglish is considered the greatest of the club's legends, but is not considered a local hero ... and Fernando Torres was a fan favourite with Liverpool, but was a local hero at Atleti ...

if you were suggesting that Srna has been an adopted son and talisman for so long at Shakhtar that he is virtually a "local hero", I'd have to agree ... but it needs those qualifiers (adopted son, virtually a local hero) ...

haha, I would be one [when it comes to Portuguese football], if not for Luis Figo, a favourite of mine and a #7 I tried to copy when I played the position ... (H)

Starting XI
FSC is showing ManU-Marseille live instead of Bayern-Inter. What a joke, but I guess the ratings back them up. I hope Marseille makes a match out of this, but I suspect ManU will kill the game early and play out a boring second half.

I predict
ManU 2 - 0 Marseille
Bayern 0 - 0 Inter

Yeah, make sure to check FSN, which is on more basic cable packages than FSC.

That Bayern - Inter match was one of the most entertaining matches of football I've ever witnessed as a neutral. It was the type of match from the beginning, that the managers probably aren't too excited - fast paced attacks back and forth - but it's great to watch as a fan of the game. Eto'o is stilll the man!
