Congrats to Ajax! I'm glad they sneaked through, it's gonna be tough for them to get past the playoff round though. I feel like it's almost psychological for them at this point. It has been so long since Ajax has been in the CL groups.

Celtic on the other hand....

Sucks that Unirea got knocked out but I never actually expected them to qualify but man they sure played Zenit tough.

Champions Playoff Round
Seeded: Basel, Anderlecht, Copenhagen, Hapoel, Sparta Prague
Unseeded: Rosenborg, Salzburg, Partizan, Zilina, Sherrif

Non-champions Playoff Round
Seeded: Sevilla, Werder, Zenit, Tottenham, Ajax
Unseeded: Dynamo Kyiv, Braga, Sampdoria, Auxerre, Young Boys

My desired match-ups:

Basel - Salzburg
Anderlecht - Rosenborg
Copenhagen - Sherrif
Hapoel - Zilina
Sparta Prague - Partizan

Sevilla - Braga
Werder - Young Boys
Zenit - Auxerre
Tottenham - Dynamo Kyiv
Ajax - Sampdoria

Congratulations to Sheriff, they have secured Euro-autumn for Moldovia second year in a row. Very good goalkeeping by Vladislav Stoyanov.

I told you they'd get it done in the second leg ... though I didn't expect Ajax's defending to be that terrible ... I mean it wasn't a case of getting outwitted, it was downright schoolboy errors gifting goals away ... they nearly paid the price ... the attack was alright, and again excellent chances were created and not taken ...

you are sadly right about the psychological barrier coming up ... Martin Jol is no Mourinho, but the Ajax squad just need a shot of confidence going into those matches so they can play to potential ...

oh man Ajax v Samp?! that would be the worst-case scenario as far as I am concerned! definitely want to see them both in the group stages ...

here's my ideal draw for the non-champions section (second team listed in each tie to progress):

Braga-Ajax
Spurs-Sampdoria
Dynamo Kyiv-Sevilla
Zenit-BSC
Auxerre-Bremen

Ajax would have a hard time winning against all five possible opponents. Only against Young Boys I'd give them over 50% chance.

terrible draw ... both Özil and Cassano should be gracing the tournament proper ...

and the damn Hotspurs get the Young Boys? what luck for the Englanders ... would love to see Mayuka get the winner in that tie ...

Big shot for Germany to get an early jump on Italy for next season's coefficient 3rd place.

yeah, definitely a great chance for the Germans to do so ... Samp haven't sold their big players, which is good, but they haven't really reinforced their squad for the Champions League challenge either ... Bremen have a lot more quality on paper ...

still, as it stands, it remains just as much a chance for Italy to cement 3rd spot in the coefficients ...

I am not too surprised. YB is a very underrated team. They have beat Fenerbache, a tough opponent. And then everyone wished to play against them...Owned?
