The Simpson's Movie

I'm checkin it out tonight....I sure hope it doesn't disappoint, but my expectations aren't too high to begin with.

I went to see it earlier tonight. Didn't have too much expectations based on the most recent episodes, but I must say that I was presently surprised with it. I really liked the movie, it didn't feel like an extended episode which was one of my concerns prior, and the jokes were actually quite funny. So basically, I liked the movie (H)

First of all: "The Simpsons Movie", plural. The grammar police is stepping in here.

Anyway, might be going to see it sometime next week... I am dreading it somewhat though.

Watching the DVDs of the old shows (seasons 1-9) is such a treat but the new episode sound, look and are complete crap. Just a random succession of even more random events and jokes. Garbage.

I hope the movie is more in the mould of the earlier episodes than the new stuff...

I'm going to see it tonight. I've been looking forward to this movie for a long time, The Simpsons is one of my favourite TV-series. I have high expectations to it and hopefully it will live up to them.

Saw this on launch day at 10:30am, were all madly hungover from the previous night but we're dedicated Simpsons fans...

This movie was definately a throwback to the comedy gold of the earlier seasons. Try not to go in with any expectations, but just sit back and enjoy the ride like any other Simpsons episode on TV :)

Film was hilarious, it had the whole theater laughing atleast once every minute. I realized I misspelled the title as soon as I created the thread, though I have no way of editing it. I loved it when when they played that spiderpig music, hahaha. I might have to watch it again to catch all of the jokes.

I will have to catch it next week after everyone else has seen it..

Something that surprised me was all the advertising that went into this movie. You would have though that after 19 seasons, a simple trailer with some posters would have done just fine...

Same here. I really enjoyed it. And that Spiderpig music was just great, I've been singing it all the time since last night.

I saw this on Saturday and thought it was absolutely AWFUL. Terrible, a huge let down and a total betrayal of the Simpsons franchise.

The first half hour was moderately funny, moderately, but after the dome thing appeared I dont think I laughed once at the whole rest of the movie. The last good joke I remember was "I was elected to lead, not to read". I was actually bored and couldnt wait for it to end. The whole Alaska thing was pointless and unfunny, all the great side characters were terribly underused, the issues of corrupt leadership and environmentalism were all things the Simpsons had tackled before, and tackled much better. You could take four random episodes, watch them back to back and it would be miles, miles better than this movie. I cant emphasis how disappointing I found it.

DO NOT SEE IT - it is a terrible waste of money and will seriously damage the Simpsons in your eyes.

I am actually more inclined to trust your judgement mister Sir_Didier_Drogba... I'm guessing you are a classic Simpsons lover like me.

I think the classic Simpsons episodes contain some of the greatest moments of comedy ever created by mankind.... moments like "Hold on, Mr Simpson, are you still holding on to the cans inside those machines?" or the Short Shorts dance. Trust me, I so WANTED this movie to be a huge success, I wanted it to be a return to form and I wanted to love it and to laugh all the way through. For the first half hour I was constantly saying to myself "this isn't too bad, give it a chance, this isnt too bad, give it a chance". I forced laughs even at the less funny jokes. Unfortunately, it sloped down and down hill until all hope became lost and I felt used and betrayed.

That sounds pretty much like the same frame of mind I am in about this... don't think I'll be going to see it then. I can't bear even 5 minutes of the latest episodes.

I saw it last night, and it was okay. Not great, not too bad, just alright. I think mostly after the first half actually pretty good. But when they leave Springfield, it all goes down hill. The beginning was actually funny, and it made me expect too much of the second half of the movie. But it ended up being pretty predictable.

The jokes were pretty lame, and it got pretty sappy towards the end. The beginning was really good, though. Too bad they couldn't keep it up and began to slide as the movie went on. There were a couple of 'heh, heh' moments, but no laugh out loud moments throughout the movie. I think I only laughed out loud a few times.

Overall, I guess I enjoyed it, but it wasn't that great. And everyone seemed to laugh at every little stupid joke, which I couldn't find humor on. The Simpsons are like, 18 years old, if not more so. So I guess we shouldn't be surprised that it's not as good as before. I didn't have huge hopes for the movie, though, I mostly just watched it because I've been a Simpsons fan since I can remember. So I can't say I'm disappointed, but I did feel a little disappointed because it started off pretty well.

Not as good as the old episodes but definitely much better than the new ones. It's not nearly as bad as Sir_Didier_Drogba is making it out to be Matt.

If it's plural AND the movie is about the Simpsons, hence ownership..So shouldn't it really be The Simpsons' Movie :p
