So what does that mean? They will be showing Sunday games, as well as Saturday games?
It's bad enough, not being able to watch the top pick 10am game, now they want to show EPL on The Score? WTF is The Score? Their score update ticker is frigin annoying and what if you are watching an event, but don't want to know other results?
Sportsnet was doing amazing job covering the EPL and they had great EPL preview show, Soccer central show and midweek soccer central, now The Score is gonna ruin it. And what's up with Fox Sports World Canada? Their main sport is soccer and they can't even keep the Sunday rights for EPL?
I'm pissed at this, this will make it worse, plus i don't have The Score at home, so i would have to go to the gym or the bar to watch the games

I'm pretty sure the score is part of standard cable where as you would have to pay for Fox Sports World Canada
Sportsnet have been great, but from what I've heard, the higher-ups at Rogers have been growing tired of the footie. So, the Premiership would probably have been lost next season anyways. As for the Score, they aren't bad, it's just the CRTC that messes them up regarding the ticker.
No, the Score is an extended cable and because i have Movie Network, plus FSW that i do pay for because of EPL, i don't have the extended network unless i pay for that aswell.europa119 said:

As for the Score, the ticker is 99% NOT coming off, because that's the main attraction for their channel, since they are not supposed to be a live event channel, so we gonna get their games, the annoying ticker and we'll be shown all the live updates of results without our wish

I still remember when TSN still showed soccer on a regular basis, sure we get a couple champions league games (for now) but I wouldn't be surprised to see that go eventually...it already takes a backseat to curling in Feb/March when the Scott Tournament of Hearts is on. Shame that Sportsnet is going the same way, just when I think the popularity of soccer is at an all time high here, they start cutting it out again. And you're right, the amount of crap like Poker on Sportsnet and TSN is disgusting. Nevermind the fact that they'll even show crap like darts and dog shows!
I wonder what this is going to mean for coverage of Toronto's MLS games? It seemed like Sportsnet was all over that, now I'm not so sure if anything's going to be televised..

As far as I know, they will ALL matches (Saturday & Sunday Matches, Midweek Games etc..) Now, regarding the ticker & stupid interruptions during the match, they have no choice!!! Under their broadcasting licence, the Score must have the ticker on at all times, must show sports updates every 15 minutes and keep their amount of live content to a whopping 15% of their overall broadcasting. But, because of that, they could sell certain games to other stations (bloody unlikely)
Alright Lads, sorry for thread-digging but some of you might want an update regarding TV coverage of the upcoming Premiership Campaign in Canada.
TheScore had the rights to the Saturday Games, while Fox Sports World Canada had the Sunday 11:00 game & Some Mid-week Games. That changed big time. The Score gave the rights to ALL Saturday games of a Channel called Setanta (which isn't even broadcasting in Canada yet) while they kept the Sunday 11:00 game. As for mid-week games, Setanta got the rights to them AND the Champions League in North America. But Sportsnet did manage to get a Saturday match at 10:00. So, ya there you go, hope I gave some good information today.

I think i might get rid of Fox Sports World Canada and switch to Setanta. FSWC sucks now, they just show some crap USL leauge games or something, they used to have EPL, French League, italian leauge at one point, german league, now i get USL? Pssh.

You'd be thankful that they lasted this long broadcasting these many games if you saw the weekly ratings the sportsnet games get man. 25-30k per game.......that's beyond abysmal. And this for a sport that requires you to go two 45min halves without any commercials, man........it's a losing proposition from every which way you look at it for them, man.
They're probably drawing in the same amount of viewers for those poker/fishing shows, with infinitely more ad space and considerably less tv rights and ****, man.......so how can you blame 'em from a business point of view?

I know from a business point of view that it wouldn't make sense for them to bid for the rights again considering the return they got but I'm just not down with paying 14-15 bucks a month when I can just watch the 10am Sat. game on Sportsnet, Sunday game on the Score, Ligue 1 Sat and France matches on TV5, Serie A on TLN and CL on TSN.
Most of the Arsenal games don't even air anymore since these channels lick Pool, Chelski and Manure Ass so I mostly watch it on Sopcast anyways.
