Gotta love him...
"I'm down in history of this club... I may leave, or retire, I'll be forever remembered"
Rogerio Ceni at his best.....

Congrats to him and Sao Paulo... though crashing the subway stations seem a great way to celebrate, and of course, to celebrate a 3rd Libertadores title, it just had to be the worst kind of vandalism in the Sao Paulo subway system in 30 years... :nape:

even if he does, there's no need to mention it in public... not that I think he will be remembered though... Zetti is remembered because of his role as a coach, just as Leao... fact is Brazil remembers their great attackers, not their best keepers... how often do you hear Gilmar dos Santos Neves' name these days? or any other keeper who is not a coach? Carlos was a top class keeper in the 86 cup (unlucky as hell, but good), but no one mentions him...

Well, why not mention it? I think that SP supporters agree with him, so why can't he say that? It would be false modesty IMO.
Rogerio Ceni will be remembered because of the great GK he is and mostly because the goals he has scored and will score. Also because of his personality

I'd say he'll be remembered only when people think about keepers who scored goals ("you know there was a keeper at Sao Paulo who used to take FKs"), but not more than that.. legendary keepers like the ones I mentioned before get less recognition, and they've been starters at a world cup...
I do think he should just stick to the polite "we've played against great opposition but we took our chances and we're really happy now", but as you say, considering his personality, it'd be false modesty...
anyways, anything we say here is purely crystal ball stuff so I'll just agree to disagree, and let time tell who is right...

hell do I hate him.....

Now it's official: Rogério has just scored his 63rd goal vs. Cruzeiro, thus breaking Chilavert's record.

For the record, it was a beautiful 25m curl that made HT score be 1-2 Cruzeiro. Three minutes before Ceni had saved a PK that would kill a very balanced game (well, execpt by our missing-in-action back line), and just after the goal he saved a placed header by arching a near-impossible angle.

Legend.

Regardless of Wednesday events, legend

man Benfica should just buy this guy. We have 3 keepers who are average and lack a really good one.

I'm not sure how well he'd adapt in Europe. He's great and everything, but in Europe he wouldn't be the idol he is at Sao Paulo, and I don't know how he'd react to that.

Nah, not at all, I hate the guy, as you can see in my previous posts in this thread. If it were another player we were talking about, it could be different.. I do have a lame record on predicting players to make it big in Europe though. I thought Kaka would be crap, then I thought Luis Fabiano would be good and I thought Benfica's Anderson was worse than Fenerbahce's Fabio Luciano...

That'll happen as soon as Romario scores his 1000th...

100 is too much i guess. But he's on 64, if he plays more 3 years of football (which is possible) and score 10+ in each, he's got a good shot.
