Reds have the edge
Manchester United and Arsenal's football dominance over the last decade could have a scientific explanation.
And it could give Arsenal the edge in the FA Cup final after they won the toss to wear their traditional red strip.
A report in Nature by Durham University academics suggests competitors who wear red have an advantage.
Researchers claim it could be down to a deep-seated evolutionary response that puts opponents on the back foot.
Dr Robert Barton told the BBC: "Whether red suppresses the testosterone of the opponent or boosts the testosterone of the individual wearing red, we don't know at the moment.
"We're going to look at that. My hunch is that there is a bit of both going on."
Researchers studied four sports during the 2004 Olympics: boxing, tae kwon do, Greco-Roman wrestling and freestyle wrestling, where contestants were randomly assigned either red or blue colours.
They found that, across the four disciplines, contestants wearing red won significantly more fights.
They also looked at results from the Euro 2004 football tournament showing that five squads had better results when playing in red.
I found that rather interesting. :chew:
P.S. Yes I know it has nothing to do with Liverpool but that logic can be applied on the CL Final anyway.
