btw, Deco has not said that he was close to signing for Real Madrid. He just said that Florentino talked with his agent during the Euro and he didn't know if Real Madrid made an official offer, he only knew the offers from Barça, Chelsea and Bayern.

I think Deco was probably the worst portuguese player in the Euro along with Pauleta. He lost soooooooooo many balls. But I assure he would be capped by Brazil by now if he hadn't joined Portugal's NT... no need to say he sucks just feel less sad from what you may have missed.
But anyway most of you guys are all biased c*nts, I'm sure none of you have followed Deco in the portuguese league, or watched most of his games in 2002/2003 (the year he really shone) or 2003/2004 before Porto reached the semis.
He was the star of Porto, he stepped up many times doing genious assists and scoring crucial goals. he achieved many things with Porto. This is a fact that can't be refuted. Whether you like him or not, that's your opinion. I personally don't like his style, but that's just me... he falls too much for my taste and I like pacey playmakers in the mould of Rui Costa, but that doesn't mean I must say he's overrated, I recognize he's matched by few when comparing technique for instance.
And I just can't believe people the same people that say Deco sucks still hail Zidane as the world's best after the total crap sh*t season he had last year. You should get a reality check.

Brasil didnt win 5 WC with players like Deco on their team. He's good, para um Portuguese! But from Brasil....we've learned to expect more thats all....Im not hating the guy, he's a great player....but I dont think he would have ever been capped for a WC... a Copa America yes...we brought our "B" team and won it, he would have done great there.....
but when we have Kaka, and Ronaldinho playing in that position...what am I supposed to do? bow down to Deco?? He's not better than Figo by a MILE, Figo owns all over him!
Deco is alright...Portugal is alright.....but no higher you act like your team is legendary? Woohoo a Euro FINAL! congratulations! That is about what Deco is worth in my eyes.
Figo on the other hand....he is worth a WC victory.
