I don't dislike Raul but IMO he is not the player he once was and others at the club are better than him atm.

Owen was a bargain for 8M £ and he's even 2 and a half years younger than Raul (14th/12/1979 Owen & 27/06/1977 Raul) , he has performed better last season and is on probably lower wages.

So if the Board or whoever decides wants to cash in - to sell another striker would be the better deal.

Keep the younger and better performing player and sell the since 2-3 years underperforming player. not that difficult is it...

BTW the newspaper chart should be "not Robinho to start over Raul but OWEN to start above both!"

Your seriously dreaming now. Raul is an icon at Real Madrid. If it was between Owen and Raul, they would sell Owen in a heartbeat. You know they would. Heck, it might even happen in this transfer window.

i'm not against Raul, but i believe he should be in bench because we have better players now. i don't care if he has play ok against some teams i can't even pronounce, because he also played well last year in our Asian Tour and later, he was crap in La Liga. We should do like Capello with Del Piero: sit him in bench some games, and use him in the second halfs.

what about Guti? he can play as LM and CAM, just like Baptista and Zidane.

Pavon started 10 days later vs Valencia, at Mestalla, and he was one of our best players there :chew:

raul's versatility and good work rate make him a good choice to start, but this year with the additions of the beast and robinho, he'll have to prove himself much more often

Up until the last couple months of last year, I don't think Raul and Ronnie have played well together like Raul did with El Moro.

I think if Raul doesn't perform early in the season, he should be benched.

remember that Raul and Mori also became a great partnership from the Spain NT aswell. and also because Mori was like Raul (as a CF) where Ronnie is a out-and-out striker. Owen is a great second half sub because he is incredibly quick and can take advantage of slow and tired defenses.

Won't Owen start in the copa delray and the other comp? (..not UCL...) If so he will have a chance to impress Luxa and maybe out perform Raul (or even Ronnie) plus if someone get injured then he's in for sure.

As for Robinho...i dont think he should have got #10. should have gone to zidane. and he will definately start from the bench. No way he will get in front of owen any time soon (unless we sell him)
