horrible turf at Dragão. Like i've said weeks ago, Porto must change urgently the grass, like Sporting, and process that incompetent firm.

Unfortunatelly I have to agree that we must change the grass, definitely i don't think this pitch we'll be very good in the future but who knows... probably the best solution could be transfer one of the pitchs from our training center in Gaia to our new stadium, i think that would REALLY solve the problem(this could be done in a short period of time)and in that case won't be necessary to sue RED. Hope this issue finish soon cause i'm very dissapointed to have such a terrible pitch in such a great stadium... :kader:

About tonight games, a deserved victory of Porto and a great match by Nacional(i think they derserved the victory) but the draw is good for us too. To Pedro Barbosa that told Sporting was the best portuguese team a few days ago i just say "toma lá esta". :p (H)

Great game in Madeira last night. After watching the excellent 4-3 ManU game at Everton in the afternoon and my team playing their first official game on our new stad, the 3-3 draw was a great way of ending a good football day.

But don't worry Sporting fans, the second place is yours, since Benfica will lose 3 points in a couple weeks anyway... :mrpimp:

About Dragão's grass, I remember some of us discussing its condition way back on this thread. It was plain obvious what now is even MORE obvious: we need to change the turf asap. We wasted 3 months on this one and now have about 4 to the EuroCup.
I hope those who refused to acknowledge our grass needed to be changed and made a fuss of it can now drink their warm cup of modesty. For the good of the club we must express our voice and think with our own heads, even if it goes against our president (whom I respect amd admire) at times.

On a side note, all posts based solely on personal insults will be deleted and the responsibles carded. Thanks.

today big match in the 2ª divisao b zona sul

there are expected about 2500 olhanense fans to travel to barreiro to meet the first placed team with 5 points of advantage. the stadium will be so crowded that old times will be remembered.
there is alot of anxiety in the air in the city in this whole week expecting this big match.
two teams with lots of history in first division meet again in the 2ª divisao b zona sul to decide who's going up.

BARREIRENSE - OLHANENSE

15h

table:

1st Barreirense
2nd Olhanense 5 points behind

if barreirense wins this one it will be really hard to take them off the 1st position since they will stay 8 points clear from the 2nd place. barreirense is undefeated for 19 matches.
olhanense winning could settle their way back in the race staying only 2 points from the first place with still lots of games to play.

a really big match is expected this afternoon in barreiro with a full stadium and lots of anxiety in the air.... ;)

if they change NOW yes. Sporting took 1 week and half to change their. of course it's a pre-seeded grass divided in blocks. But in an extreme situation the game could be played at Antas.

Something's definatly wrong with the Dragao pitch, there's no way it should take this long for the turf to become established, granted it's not the ideal growing season right now, but still...

I have a suspicion it's not the turf itself, but the soil underneath! I once came across a similar problem with a company I was working for at the time....we had a hand in designing a small, but modern baseball complex and for some reason the turf would easily tear and not establish itself, even after a couple months. It turned out that the problem was that the sub-grade was far too compacted and didn't allow water to drain fast enough, and also didn't allow the roots to penetrate to their fullest..

I made the same comment 2 months ago to Mouta who was saying the Antes grass was great. I think Porto should shod the field after their next home game.

In the US the are NFL teams on the east coast in the fall season that replace there grass in between games, so it can't be that hard. The Antes in near the Dragao so all they have to do is remove the Antes grass with a special machine.

::shinji:: is right I also fear the soil underneath is packed to hard and no root will get through. There is another Euro2004 stadium that has grass problems, but remember which one but it's either Braga, Leiria, or Aveiro.

yeah the turf is pretty bad. It looks all nice when the game starts, but five minutes in, craters begin to form. I don't see why they don't transfer the field from Antas over to the Dragao.....sure would clear up the problem in a jiffy considering that Porto doesn't have another home game for 2 weeks?

the turf really is weak..i don't understand..the Antas one was one of the best in the country. but hey, we're the champions anyway:p

Of course it's possible, the problem is that Porto don't want to blow up the turf of the old stadium right now(i think), i believe if they change the grass they will use one turf of our training center since it's in Gaia(not too far) and the grass conditions are so good as in our old stadium, i think that will definitely be the best solution, we can't stand that kind of grass in such a great stadium... :f***:

the problem is that instead of usig a grass "carpet" they grew it from the earth, and that process takes about 10 months to have perfect conditions....

I also believe that the problem isn't the turf itself(at the beggining of the games it looks great but after some minutes...), i think the problem(like u mentioned in that case)could be in the soil or something like that, it's impossible that after more than 4 months the grass isn't at least reasonable to play a full game with no problems at all...

I see your point but the experts in this issue told that at this time the grass would be in good conditions and like we saw it isn't... :kader:

Porto can't play anymore in Das Antas for Champions League, they sent to UEFA the confirmation of the stadium change already...

FC Porto can't take the risc of lose the Das Antas turf, it's the emergency stadium... i think the best solution is to transfer one of the turfs of the training center in Gaia, Porto have 4 perfect turfs there...

I hope they decide real quick! Time is running out!

I agree they should do something drastic, and try a new turf! We may still play in Antas for the league games until the new turf is settled for the ManUnited game!
