Well since nobody has posted anything about the sub20, I got to say Portugal has to revamp to youth system and teach disapline and get rid of that thing they call a coach, wow lol who the hell grabs a red card from the ref hands.

now the serious thing is ..or was.. for us to get that called "treinadeiro" into that coach position... who ever told that guy that he is a coach???? há grandes tachos.. dass...

thank God that went bad.. if not we had to keep it for even longer...

I'd rather have the 5 million euros left, than to receive 2 crappy players... I wouldn't mind if Zé Castro was included on the deal...
But the newspapers are really confusing about the money involveld... O Jogo says on the front page that the fee is 20 mil., but inside it says that it's 25 mil. Which one is it?
It's a harsh blow for Benfica, Simao has been our captain and our best scorer and assist maker for the last 6 years...
Any suggestions for who they're going to sign to replace Simão?

It's a huge blow for us, definitely. Simão was our best and most important player, always performing at a top level for the past 6 seasons. We've lost a reference and we're definitely weaker without him.

BUT, we also have to be rational and realistic. It was a very good offer, let's not forget he'll soon turn 28. Henry, who is Henry, was sold by 24 millions. Also, Simão wanted to leave and he'll receive a huge wage there. We shouldn't stop him from leaving yet another year...

NOW, it all depends on who the two players from Atletico are and also who we sign to replace Simão. If it's Costinha and Maniche, LFV and the SAD can go f*ck themselves! I never ever want to see those washed up has beens mercenaries in my club. If it's Seitaridis and Zé Castro, just as an example, it's two really good options.

Finally, it also all depends on who Simão's substitute is. There are no excuses for not investing on a top quality player. My favourite option would be Daniel Carvalho, he would be a great signing. But even if it's not him, it's got to be a player of that caliber. Let's hope Benfica's board doesn't let us down with this, signing a Laurent Robert-type...

You're right, I agree. He's nearly 28 and we should be expecting him to leave sooner or later. Though it's always sad to lose such a great player, he wanted to go, he'll earn €400.000 p/month (the double he received from Benfica) and try to prove himself in La Liga, after Barcelona experience which didn't worked well for him.

If he didn't leave now I doubt any clube would offer those 20 or 25 M€ mainly due to his age.

But we really need a quality replacement, a player who can make the difference. I'm guessing the SAD has alternatives in case Simão was sold, since Liverpool and Valência were very close to sign him before. Let's see who they come up with.

I have a feeling one of the players will be in fact Seitaridis, I remember reading not that long ago that Atletico was listening to offers for him from a couple mid-table Italian clubs, so it appears he's definitely transferable to them. He would be a great signing for sure..

As well as splashing out €20m, Atlético could also see two players head in the opposite direction with Costinha and Zé Castro mooted to be part of the deal.

Freddy Adu should never be the replacement for Simão, a good prospect, would like to have him with us, but having someone it would need to be someone that could have an instant impact on the team, like Daniel Carvalho... or....



Riquelme? bah... i still don't believe Simão left us... :(
