I got admitted into the UIUC, Indiana University, University of Florida and University of Georgia PhD programs in political science.

99% certain I'm going to UIUC.

Congrats! I'm 90% certain that I'm going to UIUC. The other 10% goes to considering other factors like weather, location, etc.. Also, I'm still waiting for UCLA's decision.

I also applied to UC Berkeley but didn't get admitted. :$ :p

Ha! Does anyone outside the english marking system even get that?

Friend of mine got AAA as predicted grades for A-levels, and confused Sheffield U. with Hallam, and she only realised her mistake after she discarded all ofers but Hallam and Glasgow. Hallam sent an unconditional offer too, she was so pleased.

AAA is the minimum requirement for Oxbridge, and then from there on it's endless interviews and all that rigma role... i'm pretty sure that from what kinda of Sixth Form College etc. have a huge influence too.

I made a "mistake" in choosing to go to Nottingham Trent Uni last year - with Trent being what they call the more sport-influenced Uni in Nottingham, so it was basically just a huge party Uni where people's courses were second priorities. Great fun, but boy was the course a load of bollocks.

I'm now at a privately run school of management in Greenwich, London. Where i've finaly felt (being you average English white guy) what it's like being a minority - i'm the only white guy in my class :D

Interview and contacts really!

Although I had an odd one. I got offered a conditional entry to Oxford if I got 40/45 on my IB (according to UCAS tarriff, that's the equivalent of about 4-5 A's at A level) and I got 42 overall, but I got turned down still.

Went to Sheffield instead which is ironically now better than Oxford for my degree, and not full of posh southeners.

Just to note, Hallam isn't that bad, i got a BCD and scrapped in.

So it's bad, it's just not Salford-bad.
