I don't really know about football in America...What's about the attendance, the game's level ?

Basically, Toronto is the only team that sells out games...and since Beckham came to the LA Galaxy, every galaxy game has been sold out as well (home and away). Game level...it's quite low. You will see some amazing plays from time to time though.

It's not as bad as some make it out to be however... I have watched some pretty bad leagues, and MLS has definitely improved in quality over the past few years.

after such a pathetic season, im curious to see what kind of attendance/attention we can get next year.. Im guessing the "honey moon" effect rings true, and we get 12,000 a game like every other MLS team.

If they dont use that designated player rule again, im not buying tickets as it shows they have absolutely no ambition. I dont want this franchise turning into another money hungry beast like the dreaded Maple Leafs

Hopefully they actually use it. I honestly bet they'd be able to find someone. I wonder if Romario would like to give yet another season a go? :D

Romario wouldn't earn DP money.

Mikey, they've already had 96% seasons tickets renewal, plus they have a waiting list of around 5,000 for ST. I don't think the stadium will be empty. There were a lot of positive things this season to build on. I mean, come on... it was an expansion year, what did you want, the MLS cup?

They had no depth and the injuries exposed that. They are already looking at bringing in some veteran depth at striker in Savo Milosevic (I wonder if he has anything left in the tank)

So I would say your assessment of the situation is somewhat off. Also, "every other MLS team" doesn't get 12,000 a game, more like 15,000. (I know it's not much, but 3,000 is still a big jump)

Maybe the squad would've had some depth if Mo didn't overpay for Andy Welsh and Fatass Colin Samuel. And what's the point in grabbing Savo when there's no creative midfielder to supply the balls to him?

Well, I would have to think that he's not finished. Savo is obviously not for this year. And Mo has already obviously admitted his mistake and shipped Welsh off to England. Samuel won't be back.

Next on the agenda will probably be an attacking mid.

thats great news on the season tickets (Y),,, how many of those season tickets are bought by corporations and how many of the seats are actually filled is a question.. as far as the season went, I dont think ive seen a club so depleted with injuries, and being an expansion (much less, an MLS team) we were never gonna have much depth.

Edu is the player of the year in my books, hopefully he doesnt play to well and then gets interest from Europe, id be happy for him though. Wynne and Brennan were also up there.

Luis Figo said today that he would like to play in the MLS. I think if he played for any other club it would be a trajesty and hugely unfair to the TFC. Nowhere in North America is there a greater portuguese population than in souther Ontario, and we should be rewarded for such an outstanding opening season

Mo Johnston has to go, he isnt the man to take this club to success.

Toronto FC is set to sign Canadian goalkeeper Josh Wagenaar, a high-ranking team source said on Sunday. Wagenaar, 22, has spent the past two seasons with Dutch club Ado Den Haag.

Toronto used a variety of goalkeepers in 2007 after losing starter Greg Sutton to a concussion. Sutton is set to return but will face a stern challenge from Wagenaar for the starting job

Looks like Toronto FC is in the final stages of working out a deal with former Portuguese international Joao Pinto. Although he's past his prime, I stil think JP has a few highlights left in him, and his quick/skillful style should be a crowd pleaser.

Still up in the air...but usually where there's smoke, there's fire.

I hope he still has it in him, especially with all the baggage he brings.

One of the Portuguese sites I was reading this morning said JP was in Toronto right now working out some details, so i think he will likely sign, but you never know. He already severed his ties with Sporting Braga, and at this stage in his career he knows there aren't many options for him left.

was just a matter of time before the franchise pulled a stunt like this :p could pan out well with our limp attack though

Let's hope he still has a few of these left in him..

Man, i'm just itchin' for the start of the MLS season. Hopefully we have a bit more success this season, the club and the fans both deserve it after showing the rest of MLS what a soccer game's atmosphere is supposed to look and feel like.

EDIT: Bah, looks like the deal's off. He'll probably end up with the Galaxy now :(

Sportsnet.ca -- An early morning phone call to SC Braga confirmed that Joao Pinto and Toronto FC have halted any negotiations over bringing the Portuguese international to town.

Soccercentral confirmed the news with the Portuguese club on Thursday, learning that training obligations and contract details were at fault for quashing the rumoured deal.

Toronto FC wanted the Pinto in town to train for at least a week, which Braga was not comfortable with due to a rash of current injuries on the squad. Also, financially the TFC offer was too low. Pinto currently makes around 350,000 Euros ($500,000 US) and the MLS maximum for non-designated players is $325,000 US.

Midfielder Carl Robinson is the top earner on TFC at $315,000 US.

However, it is also rumoured that the Portuguese international has scheduled more meetings with the MLS, but not involving TFC.
