OR they got punished because they failed to accept the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ into their hearts.

I'm shocked that anyone can actually think that PSG were operating within their means and were therefor in full compliance with FFP (and therefor not deserving of any punishment).

quoting Mus so I don't have to restate the point:

FFP was put in place to stop small clubs from becoming Portsmouth really.
not to prevent people with deep pockets from dipping into them ... this "punishment" is a façade for the public front; the real admonishment would be in scolding PSG for being too transparent when exploiting loopholes ...

While true, that argument ignores the actual body of FFP rules. Regardless of the objectives and motives of the different groups, PSG broke the rules, they did so blatantly and are being punished for it, which is fair. It's unfair that the punishment is not harsh enough and does balance the playing field. But hey, fine by me, Chelsea can go back to splashing cash.

balancing the playing field? if you understand and agree that FFP is designed to avoid the Leeds/Parma/Pompey scenario, then this leveling claim is nonsense and you know it ... off an actual pitch, there's no such thing as a level playing field ...

anyway, PSG didn't break the rules; but they made their exploitation of the sponsorship loophole too obvious, which has forced Platini's UEFA to make a public showing of "punishing" them based on a BS "valuation" claim -- the deal is valued at *exactly* half? riiightt ... hahaha :-D ...

No, FFP means you spend what you earn (to simplify it). PSG did not, everyone else did. This means the playing field was not balanced. End of.

They didn't exploit a loophole. They broke the rule. The rule states that if related-part transactions don't represent fair value they get readjusted. PSG broke this rule. Again, end of.

Are you seriously saying PSG's sponsorship deal represented fair value? Please, you're embarrassing yourself.

it doesn't matter what I or you think of their deal ... unless "fair valuation" is spelled out, it is a grey area, and thus always open to interpretation/exploitation ...

Your argument is based on a technicality. Again. PSG are getting punished for thinking they can exploit a technicality and that no one would apply common sense. Good luck with appealing that. Yet you argue that PSG were harshly punished. I honestly can't imagine what it must be like to have to interact with you on a daily basis.

You're making it about the outcome of the case itself. If they avoid punishment on a technicality is irrelevant to me, since they still acted against the rules (certainly against the spirit of them) and got an unfair advantage that way. If you want to live in your own universe in which PSG acted within their means I can't stop you.

The Von Trapps
they avoid punishment on a technicality, but have still violated the rules that would result in said punishment? hahaha! :-D

Is there actually somewhere where we can access the FFP rules? Or is it entirely media speculation as to what the actual guidelines are

I read that what is in FM14 is way off the mark and that it's more similar to the NBA?

So just a fine and a CL squad cap, 60 million with 40 being refunded when they break even

Nothing official, just widely reported that it was reduced for them and city and they accepted it
