Giggsy has always had problems with his hamstring; one of the disadvantages of playing for so long from a young age.

Didn't they blame it on all the new cars he was driving at one point - something about stiff clutch pedals or something?

FT 0-1. Not surprised at all. Look at our line-up Brown, Silvestre, Fletcher, O'Shea, it's like last years CL line-up all over again.

Why must SAF thinker with a winning side?

our away performances and results in the champions league being obvious cause for concern, its just simply awful. :boohoo:

There's not much SAF could've done to the team selection given 3 starters were injured.
The team he sent out should've won, easily.
However this could be a blessing because SAF can give the playerse a bollocking and bring them back on the ground. If we were going to lose a match, this would've been the least damaging one.

As Fernandez pointed out, this is the sad indication of our depth.. and while we have a wonderful first 11, any injuries will severely dampen our chances.

On an injury/suspension free run, we can challenge Chelsea to the title. However once the inevitable hits, we are nowhere near. Take out the best striker, midfield, defender and goalie from us and them, and then compared the team. Its not a pretty sight.

Being tied with Chelsea on points won't get us the title, we need to really build a large lead while our first 11 are available. Because once some of them are not, we will drop points, and possibly quite a few of them.

Now that Ole's injured, Saha's recovering and Smith not yet full fitness yet, who will partner Wayne? I am not entirely convinced sending Rossi out is the best of moves.. it would be great for him, and us in the future, but what about now?

yeah, geez.

What's so ******* surprising? We should have finished off the chances we had, but it's expected after such a run in all competitions. And Fergie had no choice but to give a few players a break. We got big games coming up, and we can't have our best 11 playing twice a week all the time. And don't sound surprised that you people didn't know that Fletcher, O'Shea and Silvestre are crap. Copenhagen is not a walk over, it's their ground and they had nothing to lose. 9 points with 2 games to go, i'm not that bothered about this result.

i am too used to this...we always lose games that are expected of us to win especially against weak sides. you dont see that happening to milan..barca...chelsi.... even without their strongest 11

Never mind it's only one loss but it was unnessessary and unlucky as well.
Rooney missed chance after chance it wasn't his best game.
Ajax lost as well against them due to an unlucky own goal by Vermaelen but sh#t happens. I'm sure the next round won't be much of a problem even after this loss.

Copenhagen never had a true on target shot the enitre game which really threatened the team, yet they we're indeed lucky enough to spill the ball in after the corner. Man Utd's one-touch passing utterly dissapeared as our full-backs we're throwing out inaccurate long passes hoping to counter-attack with ole or rooney. The problem was that ole lacks the pace and strength of saha in order to control and make space to shoot, while rooney had a tough time competing with copenhagen's tall and strong defense. If ever we we're to make a proper counter attack, the passes should have been made by Carrick, not Heinze, Silvestre or O'shea. :nape:

What really burns me up is watching United take games like that in first gear, get into trouble and then frantically bombard the goal in the last 10 minutes. Copenhagen were treated without due respect and we got punished for it. It's a pattern that is all too familiar - whatever lineup we put out, the fans have the right to expect that those players will play at the maximum effort for the pride, if nothing else of Manchester United - because I'll tell you this, there's about 6 Million people worldwide who would trade anything to represent the red shirt and if those chosen few can't, then it leaves a bad taste in my mouth. The only player who gave 100% last night was Wayne.

There is no doubt in my mind that any 11 of the current United squad is capable of beating Copenhagen - if they put the effort in.

I expect United's players to try to put exactly the same amout of workrate everytime they play - be it AC Milan or Aldershot.

We could have been sitting pretty last night, qualified and able to then blood youngsters in the remaining games. Instead we now face a fired up Celtic in Glasgow and then Benfica at OT - and there's no guarantee we'll get the point we need, especially if that's how seriously they want it.

We can still make do with Smudger upfront. He can be a foil to Rooney just like Saha, minus all the agility of the frenchman.Fletcher will have to play right side again and Ronaldo will be deployed on the left with Carrick and Scholes in the middle. That is,if we play 442.If Sir Alex sticks with the 4231 then,Fletcher will have to partner Carrick in the middle while Ronaldo,Rooney and Scholes playing the offensive roles leaving Smudger upfront alone. We are still stable but without depth for cover especially in attack.January coming up real soon...any news on a potential number 10 for us?
