Better than Fletch, O'Shea or Giggs in that position at least. Carrick didn't show like he single-handedly controlled the game, but then again that's exactly how he played at Spurs. He would do things that were important, but you just didn't notice them, because he would get the ball straight to attack again and you would be too overwhelmed with the beginning of the new attack, rather then reflecting back on how Carrick created it.

Wasted chances last night, still got the job done. Ronaldo was excellent again. As for Liverpool, I hope Gerrard's still not back - Liverpool's midfield destroyed us last year and Carrick won't add any more fight than we had then. Hope Gary and Gabby are both back, we need combative players Sunday. Backing Wazza to score against Liverpool too.

Thought Fletcher was awful last night, he missplaced every pass and gave possetion away very cheaply several times. Sheasy at least got himself in the right place occasionaly (lucky goal though)

I hope Saha could improve his composure and focus in front of goal.If he had that,he would had at least 4 goals from the last two games. He is the type who scores on the difficult chances but squander the easy ones.

yea i dunno what happened to the deadly saha...he would finish off those type of chances in his fulham days. Now he needs like 3 chances to score 1. And i thought fletcher had a decent game but Oshea was really poor... he fell like a bum while tryin to do a stepover in the 1st half. O shea gives us the physical presence in midfield though...

Saha reminds me of Andy Cole, needs quite a lot of chances before he scores.

Saha has a better work ethic than Andy Cole though, I remember Andy Cole absolutely frustrating me when he gives other accusing looks when he can't finish.

So many times have I seen him standing, muttering to himself for missing the simplest chance.

Then he scores with crazy lobs and overhead kicks with Yorke.

Solksjaer on the other hand has a much better shots-to-goal ratio.

have to say i think Cl semi-final is not beyond us and same with the domestic cups i think with the league it may be a bit 2 far 4 us but if we get a result att he weekend i just hope the game after we win and not waste the 3 points against liverpool

I'd draft Rio and Gaz straight back into the team and put Heinze on the bench.Evra is doing really well, continuing to impress with every game.Put Scholes alongside Carrick in midfield and a trio of Rooney,Ronaldo and Giggs supporting Saha. That should do it against them scousers.2-0 to us isnt a far shout at OT.C'mon United!!

yeah...but the real test will be for our midfield, if carrick n scholes start then they shud be careful with the tackles cos they arent good at them (:/)

i havent seen carrick made a good tackle since his arrival...scholes seems to be doing the defensive duties but carrick's passing is definitely evident.

i dont think he knows how to tackle...hehe...remember, fergie at the start wanted both owen n carrick...owen the DM role...while carrick the play-makin one with his passings...so i guess this is only a temporary formation...it will only be "complete" when owen joins in january or at the summer...

If we had Phil Neville we would have been able to play DM + Carrick

I really think we shouldn't have sold him. He's a quality player and now he's vice captain and regular at Everton, which is a testament to his ability.

When you rewatch the game where he completely marked Viera out of the game you realize what a capable defensive midfielder he can be.

I always defended Phil Nev when he got alot of criticism. But to be honest, i think he's far better off at Everton, the level they play at is similar to his level. O'Shea is moving into the same role at United as Phil Nev had and as he's naturaly a defender i think he can do good as a DM, he's done well there before and he can tackle. His physicality and presence is also a plus.

I can't belive you want Phil Neville back. But if you want to aim for average players in your team, please be my guest.

*Waits for the "He pwned Vieira" comment*
