Looking forward to it, you guys had a bit of a rough time in Lisbon last year and we're even stronger this time around with the securing of Simao and Miccoli and the additions of Rui Costa and Kikin Fonseca!

should be a hell of a match, again..

We are also stronger, with the new and improved Ronaldo who has clearly matured since the WC and Rooney and Saha are a great couple. I am looking forward to it, may the best team win

To be honest, I feel more sorry for OH than for us if we call this off...
He'll have a miserable time in Bayern..
Yeah, poor dude has to sit out the contract he signed seven months ago.

The fans will forgive him as soon as he performs like he used to.

I havent seen Haestad play before...wats he like ? Wont mind hargreaves comin too ;)
Haestad is a agressive midfielder, runs like hell and is a good tackler!
he is a good passer too.

When that is said, i still have my doubt about him at united,i dont think he is ready for the EPL yet! but if he comes i sure would welcome him (could turn out to be a good signing)

i think if hargreves comes we are goin to have to pay a massive amount of money 4 and i really think we hhave started off well and if he comes we will have to change formation which i dont like

I still think we should go for Reo-Coker, I am convinced we could get him from West Ham, plus I also think he would really improve at United.

i totally agree with ya he is such a under rated player and he is still young and a great leader and seems to have his head screwed on which i great and let carrick and scholes play together and reo in and out and then let him break into the first team

There is a rumour that Barca's van Bommel will go to Bayern, cause he isn't happy with the current state at Barca, he is not even on the bench lately, perhaps this could make way for Hargreaves

Nope, the two would compliment each other very well. And Hargreaves could finally play his favourite DM role.

Bayern Munich insist Owen Hargreaves will not be allowed to leave the club before his current contract expires in 2010.

Manchester United are trying frantically to tie up a deal for the England international before next Thursday's transfer deadline.

However, despite Hargreaves' desire to leave and United's keenness to land him - Bayern are refusing to budge.

"He is free to swap sides - but not before July 1, 2010," Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge told Welt.

"This is the last word. If I say this, then that is what it is going to be.

"He can swap sides on July 1, 2010 - no sooner."

Rummenigge earlier this week stated that Bayern were considering taking United to Fifa over their pursuit, but he now says the English giants have backed off after talks with Red Devils chief executive David Gill.

"Manchester United have stopped their activities," he said.

"I have been in touch with my colleague David Gill and they stick to what we have agreed to. That is correct and serious."

yes mascherano would be a great choice for you guys ; imo better than hargreaves; mascherano is a more polivalent player than hargreaves; he can play in almost every position that resembles defense

Bayern do dirty on Owen
By NEIL CUSTIS

BAYERN MUNICH double-crossed Manchester United after agreeing a £12million fee for Owen Hargreaves.

The England star had a medical on August 15. But Bayern pulled the plug just as the deal was due to be confirmed two days later.

They ordered Hargreaves back to Germany and upped their asking price to £17m.

Bayern have since been accusing United of an illegal approach.

And their chief executive Uli Hoeness branded Hargreaves, 25, a ‘prostitute’ for offering himself to the Premiership club.

United are now hoping Old Trafford director Bobby Charlton’s friendship with the Germans’ president, Franz Beckenbauer, can help smooth the move before Thursday’s transfer deadline.

Bayern agreed the deal the day before Hargreaves played for England against Greece.

An announcement was set for the day after the Old Trafford international — until Bayern pulled out.

It is believed their stubbornness may be simply to placate their fans who are already angry at losing Michael Ballack to Chelsea.

But Hargreaves has made it clear he wants to quit Munich.

He accused the Bundesliga champions of treating him with no respect after nine years of service to the club.

Hargreaves said: “I’ve given everything to Bayern and I want to be treated with respect.

“I simply want them to accept United would be a great step for me. The manager does not want to let me go. That’s his right. But he knows what I want.

“It’s simply a great challenge. I’m an England player, part of my family lives near Manchester. A lot of things come together.”

Bayern argue that the midfielder was happy to sign a new deal only last season, keeping him at the club until 2010.

Hargreaves admitted: “The contract was a great honour but a lot of things have developed in a different way. I have a great chance to become a key player for England.”

And while United hope to wrap up the deal by Thursday, Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge last night insisted there is no chance.

Rummenigge said: “Owen is free to swap sides — but not before July 1, 2010.

“This is the last word. If I say this, that is what it is going to be.”

Weng's £16m for Mascher
By MARK IRWIN

ARSENAL are set to muscle in for Argentine World Cup ace Javier Mascherano.

The Gunners held talks with Corinthians rep Walter Tamer after Wednesday’s Champions League victory against Dinamo Zagreb.

Also present was Kia Joorabchian, the money man behind midfielder Mascherano’s move to Brazil two years ago.

Now Emirates boss Arsene Wenger is hoping to sort a £16million deal before the transfer window closes.

Mascherano, 22, is one of the hottest players in world football after starring in all of Argentina’s World Cup games in Germany.

Manchester United have been eyeing the tough-tackling youngster for a year and see him as the man to fill the hole left by Roy Keane.

But now Wenger has been given the nod by his board to make a bid.

Now, both of these articles are from The Sun, so take them with a grain of salt, but the possibility that we might've agreed a deal for Hargreaves and then Bayern pulled out after one good perfomance to up their price £5m has me quite miffed.
