typical wanger's comment.. i zizn't zee it.... :mrpimp:

we definitely were the better team and fully deserved the win.. once again.. i raise question about the ability of kirkland.. anything the goes pass the back four normally will result in a goal for the opponent...

The best prediction I have heard so far is 2-2, we and Arsenal aren't at the top of our form. I can see Hyypia being completly owned by Henry though, especially in the pace department.

oi you ya wee shíte, pay attention. I said we'd win (H) haha henry was owned by himself for being crap :(

Harry the passenger

Liverpool 2-1 Arsenal

Recalled to the starting line-up after being dropped from the Champions League game in Monaco on Tuesday night, this was a day for the real Harry Kewell to stand up. Playing on the left of a five man midfield, the Aussie was an ideal candidate to provide hit-man Neil Mellor with some much needed support in the attacking third, but his lack of confidence was quickly evident.

As his attempted passing move with Steven Gerrard missed its target, the gasps from the Liverpool fans said much about their growing feelings towards their Kewell. The same noises were heard as his first touch continues to desert him and with each failed move, you could sense his belief was slipping away.

It's almost as if he needed something to go right for him to help him come out of his depression and it so nearly happened as his powerful header forced Jens Lehmann into a decent save after half an hour.

If this was a team brimming with confidence and firing in goals from all angles, Kewell may be the ultimate luxury player who can give that extra dimension, but a depleted Liverpool need something else just now.

In his determination to impress, Kewell started the second half by drifting in towards a more central role, but he did not look like a player desperate to receive the ball. His most notable burst of energy came as he clashed with Lauren after a tangle of legs mid-way through the second half, but his poor use of the ball and lack of direction was alarming.

'What a fantastic result and what a fantastic game,' said a delighted Liverpool boss, Rafa Benitez. 'We prepared very hard for this game and the players have gone out and delivered what I asked. In the first half, we were perfect, with and without the ball. We got what we deserved.'

Don't let this fine victory disguise Kewell's woeful effort. Only a lack of fit bodies will see him retained in this side and Benitez was forced to admit our subject was short of his best.

'Harry is not enjoying a good run at the moment,' he confirmed. 'He needs to improve his physical condition, which he is doing, as well as other areas of his game. Also, I see a lack of confidence.'

It's been a good weekend for Australian sportsmen, but just for the moment, football just isn't Harry's game.

KEWELL VERDICT: 1 out of 10 and he gets that just for turning up. Harry barely did anything useful all afternoon and on this form, he will struggle to hold on to his Liverpool shirt

get off Harry's back, give him some support and hopefully he'll improve.

Yep. Rubishing him week in week out isn't going to help him improve.

Players go through form slumps, it's a fact.

I don't mind players going through slumps in form, but hes been like this since we signed him. Its like, Leeds sold us the body of Kewell for £5m and kept his footballing skill.

Harry needs a goal. they guy is lacking confidence big time. to be honest Harry was not at his best last year. Playing under GH has really hurt him.

Also we could of got Duff but the board were never gonna pay £17m were they.

anybody going the tottenham game tomorrow? i am in the lower tier..

GERRRIN.....BAROS IS BACK!!

Back in training yesterday, with the ball and could even play a part in the Olympiakos match. :ewan:

Good things come in threes...so I'm expecting a text from Rafa saying he'll sign me come January to replace Harry, who in turn will take my place and finish these goddamn building plans as part of his rehabilitation.

That would explain their 1-0 defeat to bottom of the table and previously winless Rotherham. :p

Oh wait..

after HK damaged his cruciate ligaments at leeds he very rarely played out wide, mostly playing alongside or just behind Viduka, he had lost some of his pace and therefore his ability to go past players, he now favours a more central position, as last season against Arsenal. So don't judge him against the type of player he was 4 years ago.

I've been through it mate. I ripped my ankle ligaments about year ago, and have only been able to play again recently. Admitadly, I'm a keeper so I thought it would really effect my agility, it has slightly but I feel I've made up for it in other parts of my game, if Harry was a smart player, he would have improved his game in other departments.

England u20 defender David Raven makes his first appearance for the reds tonight in the Carling Cup game at Spurs.

John Welsh had originally been expected to play, with Salif Diao dropping to right back, but Diao will now line up in midfield with Raven coming into the back four.

Probably line up: Dudek, Raven, Henchoz, Whitbread, Warnock, Nunez, Diao, Biscan, Potter, Sinama, Mellor

No we couldn't have. He was out of our price range. The only reason Chelsea got him is that...well they're backed by that Russian wanker. Deffo ex KGB if you ask me. :D
