So whose going to replace Owen at Anfield? Baros and Diouf will probably be starters for now but I don't believe that Benitez will be satisfied with just those 2.

Damn it. I meant to post Cisse, not Diouf. Now I'm screwed. IceBlu is gonna rub it in my face :p

So who will replace Owen then? I know Cisse and Baros could do it but I think another striker should be added to add some depth. Maybe Benitez should go after Saviola since he has supposedly been shown the door at Barca.

Saviola - overrated

He's rubbish at Barca, alright in Argentina (hmmm sounds familiar).

He's too small and weak. U need big strong strikers in the Premiership as all of the defences have big strong defenders. Anyone think we need a set-piece taker? How's Alonso at those?

There was a rumour that Liverpool were interested in Wiltord(H) That shouldn't happen for the good of the club!

Cisse was excellent in the opening fixture against Spurs, he will be brilliant this season. Should be among the top scorers in the Premiership.

As for Baros, he wasn't too impressive, maybe he wants out so there isn't as much commitment. Even if he is unsettled, who would sign him? Not Barca, they have Eto'o. Maybe Man Utd, seeing as they are in a striker crisis? I don't see Baros leaving the club, so Saturday's game was probably an off day.

What do you Liverpool fans think? Was it just an off day or does he want out?

Is it just me that thinks Diouf will be a success at Bolton. I think he was played out of position under Houllier's regime

I don't understand why Benitez got rid of Diouf straight away? I mean, I heard that when he was at Valencia, he himself was interested in purchasing him, then why try offload him without giving him the chance?

Yes I know I know that CM isn't a good decider for players, but as I've never seen Alonso take set-pieces I went to see his stats on set-pieces, 17, quite good :)

Anyone seen him take set-pieces?

I seriously think we'll go for Mista. He'll be free on bosman next year. We might sign a pre-contract with him during the winter transfer window. 24 goals in 46 games at Valencia last season. Mista loves Benitez, and Benitez is an admirer of his as well. Mista is unhappy at Valencia right now.

I'm not sure yet, but I think Baros and Cisse are too much alike. Either Cisse or Baros needs to be partnered up by Sinama, but Sinama is not quite ready yet.

I think it would be interesting to play Kewell upfront. Kewell would complement either Baros or Cisse well.

I so hope we sign Luis Garcia, but it doesn't look likely anymore :(

or even Gerrard if all that the Real Madrid

Me too but neither Tony nor Diouf is currently availible :D

But yeah, I don't understand why Diouf wasn't given a chance. There must be something we don't know... Diouf announced he'll fight for a spot in the team, but he wasn't allowed to prove his worth :confused:

Diouf would be nice upfront right now too actually. Man, I seriously want to see Diouf get a chance, at least 1 more game up front and see how he performs. I truly believe he could turn out to be good.

yeah like somone say Baros and Cisse don't
work well together (Hope THEY prove me WRONG:) ) maybe they are too similar so Diouf would play nicely with one of them

I would like to tell you a lot of things of Nuñez but to be honest last season he had not many chances in Real Madrid, he was suposed to be the sub of Figo (Right Winger) and he never had the oportunity of playing in that position. Nuñez was crap cause Queiroz used him as Forward, as sub of Ronaldo... I saw him playing in 2002/2003 season in some friendlies and he did very well. Cant wait to see his perfomance in Lpool
