Much better than last year, when we had 4 mexican teams in the semi-finals.

I seriously think the streeak of having at least one Mexican club in the final will continue...if they take it seriously.

Sorry Shifty, but Saprissa will probably have its way with Chicago. ;)

And between Alajuelense and Monterrey...like I said, if Monterrey takes their 1st team to both games they'll probably win.

Just like they had their way with Pachuca? (H)

We'll see.

Next year is when winning this tournament will be very important, because the winner will qualify for the 2005 Club World Cup. That tournament will be held in December of 2005 and will effectively replace the Intercontinental Cup.

By the way, for those who care: the Quakes ended up winning 1-0 on a Brian Mullan goal, but are eliminated losing 3-1 on aggregate.

so the quarter finals ended up like this:

San Jose Earthquakes (USA) vs Alajuelense (C.R) 1-3
Pachuca (MEX) vs Saprissa (C.R) 2-2 (2-3 penalties)
Monterrey (MEX) vs FAS (El Salvador) 4-1
Chicago Fire (USA) vs Financial SJL (T&T) 6-5

The first semi-final was played today...in Costa Rica.

Alajuelense (C.R) vs Monterrey (MEX) 1-0

losing isnt good...but it wasnt by a lot, so hopefully Monterrey will turn it around in Mexico. (Y)

...and they didnt. They tied 1-1 with Alajuelense in Monterrey in the 2nd leg. They lost the series 2-1. Didnt surprise me actually, Alajuelense played good and Monterrey just plain sucks.

And in the other semi-final Chicago won 2-1 the 2nd leg...but lost the series 3-2 to Saprissa.

So now the final will be a Costa Rican club vs a Costa Rican club...

Saprissa vs Alajuelense

Personally I'll be rooting for Saprissa, since they're owned by Chivas' owner, Vergara. :D (Y)

Go Saprissa! :rockman:

The winner supposedly gets to go to the Clubs world cup, but that's what they've said for every previous iteration of the tournament, so I doubt it will happen.
