Deco or Frings could fill in the midfield position. Then who are we gonna buy for the defense? Lucio costs 20M, I find it a bit too much for him. Metzelder would be an ideal solution, but he's injury prone. I can't see any other players in the German league who are good enough apart from these two.

Bayern is what? In the top 5 richest clubs in the world? Lucio is a great defender, and they should spend the money. Deco, as long as he doesn't dive and cheat, sign him. But I still think Ballack needs to go, and Deisler needs to get his **** together by next year.

Vince, who's contract is up this year? Lizarazu or Salahamidzic? Kuffour has been awesome this year.

Lizarazu, Zickler and Scholl for sure. I don't know about Jeremies.

Salihamidzic has extended his contract to 2006 or something like that.

I thought Scholl had extended his contract
Zickler has extended it 2 day ago. :)

Jeremies contract runs out at the end of next season I think.

Your bad feeling was correct. Bayern looked like garbage and Werder took it to them. The least they could do was fight so they didn't win the championship on thier home ground!

Oh well.

Yep.

Another huge transfer will be done in the next days:

German international striker Carsten Jancker is set to join Kaiserslautern - if they can stay in Die Bundesliga this season. Jancker seems set to leave Udinese at the end of the season after an infuriating time in Italy.

The giant hit-man has scored just two goals during his time at Udinese and the Italian side are willing to let him go on a free transfer.

Kaiserlautern are on the look-out for a new striker with Miroslav Klose moving to Werder Bremen in the summer and they have decided to move for former Bayern Munich star Jancker.

The 29-year-old is keen to return home to get his international ambitions back on track, but has told the club he will only sign if they manage to avoid relegation.

Jancker has verbally agreed a three-year deal with Kaiserslautern and he will complete the move if they stay up.

Dortmund To Target English Clubs With Sales

05/04/2004. Borussia Dortmund will attempt to sell some of their highest-earning players to English Premiership clubs in the close season, says club president Dr. Gerd Niebaum.

In the German media at the weekend, Dr. Niebaum stated his intention to keep Torsten Frings at the Westfalenstadion and to model the club's financial structure on that of VfB Stuttgart.

"The squad will be tightened. We won´t have 27, but only 22 or 23 players to work with" said Dr. Niebaum. Dortmund suffered record losses this year, and failed to qualify for the group stages of the Champions League. As a consequence, the club has now embarked on a series of drastic cost-cutting measures. Niebaum added: "We will save almost €20 million alone on salaries. In future the team will cost a lot less than 40 million Euro. The share of talents from our own youth and younger players will be increased. But there will still be enough well-known international players in our squad."

Niebaum refuted claims that the club's most talented players will be sold to reduce debts. Torsten Frings is coveted by Bayern Munich, but the BVB president remarked: "You will still see Frings in a BVB shirt next season - just like Wörns, Metzelder and Kehl."

When asked to name the players most likely to be sold, Niebaum refused to name Czech stars Jan Koller and Tomas Rosicky, but did say: "We have targeted a few transfers, but it´s still too early to mention any names. In England they still pay some good money for interesting foreign players. In any case: We won´t sell any player under market value."

Kehl is useless. Get rid of him! Also, let's cash in on Rosicky.

If they don't reach the Uefa Cup they are forced to sell Frings because they won't get much back in return for Rosicky.

Frings already said that he wants to move to Bayern but it's up to Dortmund now.

In today's Bild (equivalent to the sun  ) they wrote that a Lucio deal is very likely to happen in the next weeks. Leverkusen wants 15M euros.

We're still interested in deco, but Chelsea is also interested in him so this will be a tough task for our officials.
An alternative to Deco would be PSV midfielder Mark van Bommel. He can leave Eindhoven for 6 million euros. I personally don't want thim. He's not better than our current midfielders, he should go to Schalke.

I don't know much, or better put, I haven't been able to see many of those guys play for the entire year. Just occasionally.

I just wanted to mention 3 other players who should get some credit for good seasons.

Martin Max at Rostock. 20 goals is good work.

And the Bochum duo of Hasemian and Madsen. Bochum had a fantastic season, and are in the UEFA Cup because of it. Congrats.

Makaay was class all season. 6 goals in Europe, 31 or 32 total... I can't remember.

It's very impressive to see what they have done with so little money. I actually feel a bit bad that we buy one of their key players.

On German television they said that the Deco deal is done. They have been told by some unknown members of the club. Well it's all unofficial and we prolly get to know what Deco is doing next year after the CL final.
