Yeah, I'd be pretty pissed off too, and disgusted.

How come no one mentioned Seedorfs goal? Remember when he was in Real Madrid and he scored that goal from 50 yards away I think.

Ah, yes! :D I didn't think anyone would care for that goal. I wish Seedorf was still with Madrid.

Bergkamps goal was awesome, I think I have that one on Kazza.

definitely maradona's solo run goal against england!!

that's what we called skill!
ryan giggs' goal against arsenal was good, but can't compare with maradona's one because giggs' goal was a bit lucky, but maradona used his skill purely to dribble past all the defender and the keeper! (and the keeper was one of the greatest keeper in england!!!)

all the lob goals like becks, nayim were not as good as those solo run goals!

Anyone who is old enough to have seen it live (and is not English) will say, without a doubt, Maradona's solo run against England. Such skill, strength, talent and courage on such a short man! :D
Oh, and it didn't happen by chance: in the same game, Maradona did a second, more spectacular, solo effort, but got harshly fouled by an English player right outside the box.

Finally, let us all remind ourselves that this happened in a World Cup, with literally everybody watching!

I agree with you

Giggs beat the Arsenal defence by a combination of pace and close control, while Maradona did it by acceleration (not so much pace) and close control. Slightly different goals. Still, the English defence should have chopped him down.

Mine are mostly Man Utd goals.

Giggs' et goals against Arsenal. FA Cup Semi-Final replay

Cantona's amazing volley against Liverpool. FA Cup final

Cantona's exquisite lob against Sunderland.

Solskjaer and Sheringham's goals against Bayern Munich in the CL final 1999.

Mark Hughes' last second equalising volley against Oldham. FA Cup Semi-Final.

Figo's goal against England in Euro2000, a screaming curler!!!

Of course Maradona's 'Hand of God' goal. Although his second was the best goal, this one's more memorable. :D

There is only one best and that's a fairly unknown one:
Johan Cruijff's goal against ADO in the Dutch premier league.
I have found a video about it.
Just watch the moment he receives the ball, instanly pass it over his marker and then lobbing the keeper with an unbelieveble curve!
Also watch his speed... who said he would not be able to adapt to the speed of current days football? :) Okay the movie is in slow-motion, but just watch how more quick he is than his marker...

First go to this URL
http://www.cruijff.com/show?id=1021
Then choose the second one "de krul over thie" and choose bandbreedte LAAG ("hoog" didn't work for me)

THIS is the best goal ever!

I believe it was 1986...

Some goals that I remember (which hasn't already been mentioned in this thread) -- not necessarily as great as the options in the poll:

  • Tomas Brolin against England in Euro 92
  • Bicycle kick by Van Basten against IFK Göteborg in the Champions League season 1992-93 (actually his overall performance as he scored all goals in Milan's 4-0 win)
  • Gheorghe Hagi against Colombia, World Cup 94
  • Kennet Andersson's 1-0 against Brazil, ditto above
  • Tomas Brolin's 1-0 against Romania, ditto ditto above
  • Jesper Blomqvist for IFK Göteborg against Helsingborg in 1995 where he made a complete fool of the opposing keeper (similar to Pelé's move against Uruguay in 1970, except that Blomqvist actually scored)

I am with you on that, I was 10 and it just made football feel so right :D

There is also a fantastic goal scored by an Indonesian striker. His name is Widodo C. Putro, it took place on the 1996 Asian Cup in a match against Kuwait. A high ball crossed from the right wing, without letting it bounce to the ground, he bycicle kicked it from outside the penalty box and scored. It was then voted as the goal of the tournament and the Asian goal of the year.

I know that goal, but I don`t know how to describe it here. It`s magic really, and about his speed, back in the 70`s people even say that he runs faster with the ball than he runs without it, what a legend.

There's one more for me:

Jimmy Glass' injury time goal for Carlisle which meant that they stayed in the League. Well, Jimmy Glass is an emergency on-loan goalkeeper…

Hendrik

Team Captain
I'll never forget Oliver Bierhoff's goal ´96 in Euro final against the Czechs. It was the first golden goal ever and we won the title (H)

Payaah

Starting XI
since world cup 2002, a goal i will never forget is by PAPA BOUBA DIOP, when senegal playing against France

SENEGAL 1 - 0 FRANCE
