The Most Irritating Game Of Pes Ever

I couldn't fecking believe it! I was on a 4 game winning run and had just beaten Roma 4-0 - next opponents Monaco at home.

My team selkection was easy with most of my maey players either ORANGE or RED. Easy times I thought.

I scored my second goal after 29 minutes to make the score 2-4!!!
It ended up 2-6!!!!!!

I think every flaw in PES reared it's head at some point during the game. Every goal they scored was a cross, man marking both their attackers after the second one made no difference. They crossed the ball in to the box 6 times during the game. The rest of the game was spent tripping my players up everytime they were breaking free. Davids then got a straight Red Card at the end of the game for a foul in the centre circle. Crosses going straight to my free man at the back post were seemingly dodged by my player rather than directing the header as he should be doing.

On and on and on. I wouldn't have minded loosing if it felt fair but this game was bizarre to say the least.

The more I play PES, the more I love it and the more I hate it.

There are definitely times when it "allows" you to do what you are trying to do and you can play a thoroughly enjoyable and satisfying match. What a great game PES is.

But there is no doubt that there are times when it just goes into some kind of bizarre, b*stard mode and deliberatley screws up eveything you try to do.

You work your ass off to create spaces for clean shots and the ball suddenly seems drawn to the post and crossbar like a magnet.....there are matches where I go 1-0 down and then the CPU decides, hey, I'm gonna win 1-0 no matter what you do.... chance after chance is saved....shots cracking back off the post...off the bar.....come on!! Do I have to walk the ball into the net to be allowed to score??? Yup.

There are these times when things just don't feel right anymore...every tackle goes straight to an opposition player, even the simplest pass goes awry....you just know that the CPU is interefering with your play.....the AI team hacks and hacks and the ref does nothing. Then you commit one foul and it's an instant red card.....and I find myself shouting "f*ck off you cheating c*nt!!"

Then the AI team play 1 speculative through-ball and your 2 central defenders decide to run off towards the opposite corner flags leaving the AI attacker clean through...he hits a crap shot but the keeper sort of sticks out a hand and it goes in anyway. I watch the replay and sure enough, my central defenders seem to be more than obliging....just what was it at the corner flag that caught their attention? Some goals I conceded I think, ah well, I was a bit slack...I paid the price. But sometimes it's obvious the CPU is cheating.

I think the main problem I have with PES is that, particularly on level 5, it's hard because the CPU f*cks things up for you rather than the AI team playing that much better. But I still go back for more punishment day after day.

Mind you, 6-2 in 10 minutes...

If the game let you go on a 5 game winning streak (by the way I know what you mean, in IL i was on a 6 game streak with Holland, confidence was hi, only to tie to S. Africa..they came from 2 goals down) then you will not come back for more. This is the reason why you look forward to the next leg against that team

I'm starting to worry as I now need a points total of 241 at the end of the season after purchasing Pele and Maradonna. I wasn't going to buy any classic players but I've won the ML for the last 4 seasons so I thought what the hell.

This is my exact problem with ISS - Pro Evo 2 in my case - I hate it when the computers screws your play up rather than you making mistakes.

And I also know what you mean about 'those games'. You end up swearing at the TV like some kinda maniac. What the parents must think...

This is some of the best stuff I have read! I only have ISS 1 but it sounds like nothing has changed. One game everything goes right, the passes, the shots, you win 10-0. The next game you cant string a pass together, your defence is split open by the worst team in the league at will and you draw 0-0 or lose 1-0.

Yeh, but doesnt it feel great when you think you are playing a crappy match like that where the CPU wont allow you to score etc, & you try & try until you think that all is lost, and with 1 minute to go, you think, oh what the hell, I'll try one last thrust forward, play a magic through ball to one of your strikers & he calmly places it under the keeper for a 1-0 win or 1-1 draw (& you say to yourself, now why couldnt I do that for the previous 89 minutes). Brilliant stuff!!!

Its the fact that no match is the same which makes PES the best soccer game of all time. You just dont know what your gonna get next!

I liked the way that in a match I played yesterday it was very, very close, end-to-end stuff. Then I scored 2 in quick succession with shots that I thought 'may as well have a dip'. It changed the game the other team started pushing forward more but making more mistakes as they started to try and force things to happen. Ended up 4-0.

A thing I still have difficulty with is that in the last 10mins, if you're 1 goal up and have auto attacking-bias set you're team will turn defensive. Like real life, but I prefer attacking as my defense to try and pin the other team back more.

Exactly what I asked about few weeks ago! Is it a bug, or...? Yeah, it sometimes realy seems imposible to score, whilst on the other hand you score 3-5 goals in a game.
After playing PES for about two months now(I used to be a hardcore fifa player-silly, oh silly me), I went through world cups on three, four stars, in pair, or single, winning them in different kinds of matches, hundreds of matches.
Last night I played my first WC on five stars(I think it's good, for being a rookie)! I start the match, my side Cameroon, playing Nigeria- I take first two shots, 2-0, in 7th minute. By 20th minute, it's already 2-2, +Nigeria hit the post 2 times. Until 90th minute, the match was practicaly locked, with no chances, and then, I scored, in the last minute! I then won another match 1-0, and drew the last one. In the first round I thrashed Argentina 5-1(!!!I beleived this would be most difficult), and finaly, lost in the second round to Belgium, 1-0, of course, to a header.
What I want to say is-there are situations and matches that you can win easily and score each chance you get, while on the other hand you shoot 20 times and lose to a one shot from the opponent. This does happen in real life!(I remember last year, in Croatian National league, Dinamo-Rijeka/ shots 21-1, final score 0-1!!!)
That's why I love this game so much, because it's unpredicitible, real, exciting and you can never ever be sure that you'll win a match, or even score a single goal in two or three games, no matter how good you play.
Regarding the headers, yes, it's irritating that you receive a goal without being able to jump to the air ball-but, I remember headers in fifa(i shouldn't even mention it) every header in a 16y box was a goal-all air balls were perfectly covered-yuck!!!
Yeah, if you don't have the forward covered, you simply get a goal, but if you are in contact they score only 2 out of 10 times, and it's pretty real! What irritates me most in this game is what I already talked about-you don't get control over players in certain situations,and I hope it'll be fixed! Otherwise, few details with graphics, teams, competitions and we'll have a perfect game! The fact is that I enjoy each game, like the first time! I remember Fifa, and winning all competitions on world class mode after having it for just one or two weeks, 'cause it's so arcade and easy to read it's tricks and schemes! PES is unpredictable, players differ a lot from each other, and it's clearly visible at ball control and shooting, and that makes the game so brilliant!

You have that right. Once I played Chelsea in Master Legue and couldnt get past them for anything. It was the last possible second of injury time, one last through ball and I scored the winner. I jumped up and screamed waking the whole house up. It was better than real football.

i play PES on level 5 and most of the games i had were highly enjoyable and i m looking forward to every new game i play.
i rarely experience like you call it 'b*stard mode' games.
sometimes something like that happens but it is my own bad cuz i dont play concentrated enuff whatever.
if PES had all the leagues and stuff i would be in a very difficult personal life situation you know girlfriend needs time, school makes me so tired every day and i have one year to go till 'school's out', everything takes so much time...WHY cant we have a 27h day to get 3 more hours to play PES????
it is so UNFAIR! i want a 27h DAY! WHO'S WITH ME????

I like "bastard mode" thank you very much. It happens in real life, really. Take my two teams in major competitions. Nigeria, WC98, they were doing well until they met Denmark..easy win right? well, they got spanked 1-4. My other team Holland, in Euro2000, were doing excellent in the tournament, what happened against Italy ("bastard mode") missed 2 pk's during the run of play.

It makes the game realistic if you ask me (but then no one did )

Like someone already mentioned, the good thing about Bastard mode is that the cpu makes u suck the whole game, and then they make a lucky shot in the 75 th and you are losing 1-0, swearing at the tv, and feeling REALLY crappy and pissed off.

Just trying to get to the end of the game to swear at the team some more, and then all of a sudden you do a beautiful 1-2 in the box to beat the goalie by an inch to tie!

And then on your next possession you do the perfect through ball and bang it home from outside the box, and oh my god, you win 2-1. Those kind of games are the best. Without bastard mode, they wouldn't really happen.
