how is a match supposed to be played in such conditions? That pitch is obviously not playable, and may not be playable anytime soon as it will probably flood even if the snow melts or is removed.

22:34 Lazio boss Roberto Mancini has scotched claims from Wisla Krakow that Thursday night's UEFA Cup tie was postponed to give the Biancocelesti a better chance of progressing.

The second leg of their fourth-round tie in Poland was called off after UEFA officials deemed Wisla's pitch unplayable due to icy conditions.

The game will now be played on March 5 in either Polish capital Warsaw or Prague as UEFA believe the pitch may still be too dangerous to play on in a week's time.

But Wisla boss Henryk Kasperczak, whose team had a real chance of causing an upset after drawing the first leg 3-3 in Rome, slammed European football's governing body for cancelling the game.

"It is a conspiracy," claimed angry Kasperczak.

"There was no reason to call off the game and we play on March 5 instead because that date is convenient for Lazio."

However, Mancini was quick to point out Lazio's forthcoming schedule is particularly hectic.

Before next Wednesday's tie against Wisla, the Serie A side face a tough game at Perugia on Sunday.

And following their return from eastern Europe, they take on bitter rivals Roma in the capital city's most eagerly-anticipated match of the footballing calendar.

"It wasn't us who decided the game should be called off but UEFA," said Mancini.

"It was clear that the pitch was in a terrible condition and whoever says next week is more convenient for us is wrong.

"The derby will be even more difficult for us if we have played a UEFA Cup game a few days earlier."

The pics are from Saturday. Now the pitch is dry - the melted snow is being continuously removed by special equipment. Besides there was no snow on Thursday, when the match should have been played.

And finally, conditions are same for both teams :rolleyes: Tomorrow we'll see if it's playable or not..

He never said that. I assume it's form the same Italian press that is writing temperature in Kraków is 12 degrees below zero :/

The pitch didn't have snow when it was ready on the 27th. It was playable, thats why Wisla had an official practice on it.

Who's my team? Stop being ignorant. Seeing as you're Romanian, you must know about the game vs. Norway. Remember the pitch. It was a bunch worse. Lazio are just scared..... but I still think they'll qualify instead of Wisla....

I was going by the pictures on the url provided.
If the pitch looks like it does in the picture in this thread, then it looks very playable. Lazio would have wanted to play last week dont you think? Now they have 3 tough matches in less than a week.

Yes that was terrible, but you said that Lazio are a bunch of pussies for not playing, but then said that you wouldn't want your team playing there either, that's what I didn't get. Saying Lazio were scared did you happen to read the article and read what Mancini said.
