The Gig Thread

The Don't

Starting XI
A thread devoted to gigs.

I went to see The Strokes in Manchester this year and they blew me away, best gig I've ever been to. That was not only the most recent I've been to, but the best aswell.

So describe your favourite gig/recent gigs be it a comedy or musical event.

My English in this post has been absolutely diabolical.

1. portuguese band ZEN (a.k.a. the f'ckin best f'ckin band in the whole f'ckin world EVER) @ Hard Club (Gaia, Porto, Portugal), on December 7, 1999.

2. brazilian band Planet Hemp also @ Hard Club, on November 1, 2003.

3.
- the great Manu Chao @ Auditorio de Castrelos (Vigo, Spain), on August 26, 2003.
- brazilian band Los Hermanos @ Casa Da Música (Porto, Portugal) on March 24, 2006.

all of them spine-chilling, tear-dropping, goose-bumping moments in my life.

there is like a dozen other memorable concerts for me though.....the ones I mentioned were just the most breathtaking.

1. Milburn @ the Barfly in Camden - that was absolutely crazy, place holds like 200 people and it was completely sold out and then some, everyone was jumping on to the stage and into the crowd. The band we're quality and they're songs were amazing as well. A cooler man's arctic monkeys.

2. Muse @ Earl's Court - Purely for the OTT nature of the concert, it was the last gig of the absolution tour and they pulled out all the stops for the ending as well. And the crowd was great as well. Top quality moshing.

although i don't really like Metal/Emo - 36 Crazyfists at the Barfly needs special mention, it was crazy; after 4 minutes my nose was already bleeding. I woke the next day and my entire body hurt, really mental moshing.

Then also Idlewild at Shephards's Bush - back when they were good, great show with decent songs. No queery folk music here

David Gray at the MEN in Manchester. Played on his own for about 2 hours and when all the computers stopped working he said "Ah **** it, who needs computers!". He played 3 songs with just two mics on, one for him and one for the guitar. A brilliant live performer!

The most recent concert I went to was the Red Hot Chili Peppers in Paris last june. I'm a big fan of them and it was the first time I saw them live, so of course I thought it was AMAZING. Especially Flea and John were awesome, they literally let the ground shake

The most funny part of concerts is always how it takes everything out of any person. Before the start of a concert I saw this very quiet good looking girl next to me, well dressed, so I thought ''hmm, alright, I dont think I have to worry about elbows in my face''. Was I wrong... she went mental... headbanging... screaming... and I saw her puking outside after the concert...

Havn't been to that many gigs really..

1. Oasis in Copenhagen 2005. Great performance and the fact that me and my mates were right at the front made it even better. Also saw Oasis in Manchester and Nottingham, the highlight in Manchester being the sing-a-long to Don't look back in anger...woah..something else that was.

2. Bob Dylan in Nottingham 2005. Awesome to see the legendary Bobby D, his performance was a little less than awesome though, his voice just isn't good enough for live shows anymore.

yea all the standing seats were sold out in some ridiculously short amount of time. So damn NTL decide to unplug my internet that morning :kader: Still managed to get tickets, but seated at the back - if it weren't for fu'cking NTL i would've got far better tickets.

Talib Kweli and The Roots were in town this past weekend. I didn't even know until I turned on V100.7 and heard a Kweli song I never heard before and then he was talking about his show later in the night. I was working. Man that sucked.

The two most recent gigs I went to were Green Day and Oasis...both held at the Milton Keynes bowl and both were excellent performances.

My favourite gigs have been Raul Midon and Kanye West at the Pori Jazz Festival and Cunninlynguists doing a small club gig in a venue that was really hella packed.

I've seen some pretty sloppy performances from relatively big artists like The Game and especially Raekwon, who really didn't seem to give a damn 'bout performing in Finland.

Isn't it brilliant the way I make threads then put 'Thread' at the end of the title to make the thread look more important and respectful. I do this in the hope that more people will post in it, leading to a high post count and probably a high number of views. This way, I can sit looking at my own honeypot threads and masturbate whilst observing my sheer importance to this online community, and welcome with open arms the nurturing aspect it provides to my own self worth.
