First I would like to thank you so much for developing this app to allow FIFA16 being incredibly more complete and engaging to play. I always dream being able to see how the others teams and players are doing and it has always been impossible to see in FIFA (outside of the competition you are part of).

Second I would like to argue, and it will hurt me to write it, that you are doing it for the wrong FIFA game. Your app is about creating a manager like experience that allows playing all the games yourself (or sim them or watch them if it is your thing). The team tactics and the way they translate on the field plays a big part of the enjoyment one can get on the long run with such a manager experience, because you are forced to think and adjust your tactics depending on your opponent.

The problem with FIFA16 is that team tactics in the course of a game plays all really similar no matter how extreme they might be set. A CPU team might start the game playing with long ball, but if they don't get enough possession they will automatically switch to the auto define tactics to play possession. Those auto tactics erase too often the team identity set in their default tactic to make all game play pretty much in a similar way. At this point, you must keep in mind I am a huge defender to FIFA16, but if their is one thing where FIFA16 falls short, it is the opposition diversity in the way they approach their games. You can take as an illustration of this, the fact that Krebstar at operation sport didn't release any custom team tactics for FIFA16 because of their lack of impact in game.

On the other hand, despite being older and not as good looking, one of the main strength of FIFA14 is that tactics have a strong impact in this game and you can feel the playstyle of every opponent. Positioning and offensive/defensive movement of every player can also been tuned to allow even closer to reality team identity. Again, despite being older, FIFA14 is in my opinion the closer to nowadays football in terms of teams positioning and pressing behavior on the pitch. The way the pitch is compressed and the way opponents attackers and midfield are pressing your team is much more efficient and realistic than in FIFA16. When you play the ball at your back you can feel the pressure and mistake are punished accordingly if you take too much risks.

I know you said you are not interested to port your app to FIFA14, but I believe it is the game that would make your app shine the most as a true manager experience.

Thank you gabrimo, your help is welcome. You can find examples of the files in the data package.
jerseys, shorts, socks and collars use RGB colors (226 as highest value).
Sponsor can be white (more properly gray levels) in order to be recolored when creating the kit or in real colors (any pixel where RGB components are not exactly the same is considered in real color and is not recolored when applied to the kit)

In order to use new graphics in game, also the DB must be modified, I am working to a tool for editing the database, in the meantime I can do the job or, if you want, to explain you how to modify the database using TFM_Editor.
Unfortunately my limit is to provide the patterns cause my main project consumes all my time, considering I work alone and etc.

There are a lot of stuff though, especially on jerseys and collars, like thousands of patterns amongst everything. For collars, I've collected around 16 unique patterns for almost all geometries, some of them didn't had enough references though, for those I've converted everything I found. This work alone already costed me months of work...

Is there any other contributor who are up to the task? I mean, to convert the files to the format used by you. Also, due to the volume of files, a patterns' classification is needed. I created my own style classification categories, which can be used by you depending on how you choose to make this...

If anyone is interested, my DM is open and I'm available on Discord

Finally, I can also show my technique to convert patterns used on the games' textures if anyone is interested, it may not suit 100% of cases, but it has a decent rate of success.

Even if you're right about FIFA 14 being superior on the tactics, we're nothing but a small niche nowadays and the older a game gets, the more tendency it has to be forgotten and less played, especially for an annual franchise like this.

I am not sure your argument stands as FIFA14 is probably one of the most played FIFA still nowadays. Simply because it has been cracked and it can run on almost every PC.

Hello, this is the result of the polling about new features to add to RFS:
  1. Manage a national team
  2. support audio editing (I provided a CM16 version that supports audio editing in another thread)
  3. Dynamic sponsor, change year over year your technical or main sponsor.
  4. Automatic creation of custom faces for most relevant young players
  5. Edit player appearance during career (when not using a specific face)
  6. with the same score:
  • Manage second team (e.g. Juventus NG or Real Madrid Castilla)
  • Add pre-season friendly matches
  • Add training matches during the week (e.g. Milan A – Milan B )
  • Free selection of players you would like to buy
Thanks to all the people voting.
The audio editor will allow to edit .sbr/.sbs files?

Well, the main mod groups only work with the current release of the game, so my guess is that the vast majority of guys play the current game release, despite being a inferior game and everything. The rest of us are spread mainly between FIFA 14 and 16 of course, but we're only a fraction of the player base I guess.

But I just stated that from the top of my head, so you might be right...

How to make Russian?
1) In the RFS\languages subfolder create a copy of an existing file, for example RFS-xx.db and rename it RFS-ru.db.
2) Modify the file using TFM_Editor (xml file is in C:\ProgramData\RFS\DB\RFS_LANG-meta.xml), translations go in column "local"
3) In the RFS game settings menu type "ru" in the Language field and save.
4) close and restart RFS

The problem in supporting FIFA 14 is the additional development effort that it would require and I cannot afford.
About the effect of tactics in FIFA 16 I think that slides are actually effective but I agree that, for many combination of values, they create a kind of "soup" effect where all the tactics look similar. Only using certain combination of values, the tactics become clearly recognizable and differentiate the behavior of the team.

This is a tuning about how to map RFS tactics instructions in slide values, and it can be improved for sure.

Preferred Gameplay Settings for CPU vs CPU
Hi guys,
I think that to simulate matches in FIFA 16 CPU vs CPU is one of the most interesting features of RFS so I want to share with you my preferred gameplay settings for enjoying a realistic match.

First of all I use:
  • normal game speed
  • 8 minutes per half-time (I found 6 are too short for appreciating changes of momentum in the match due to the current result, but this is not mandatory)
  • World Class level (I found Legendary level squeezing too much the effects of slides toward the top and Professional a level where the CPU is not exploiting all the skills of the controlled players)
Let's start with Game Settings\CPU Gameplay Customization, I give you only CPU settings because I am assuming a CPU vs CPU match:

Sprint Speed = 75
Acceleration = 50
Shot Error = 25
Pass Error = 25
Shot Speed = 45
Pass Speed = 25
Injury Frequency = 80
Injury Severity = 70
Goalkeeper Ability = 15
Positioning: Marking = 75
Positioning: Run Frequency = 75
Positioning: Line Height = 50
Positioning: Line Length = 35
Positioning: Line Width = 50
Positioning: Full Back Positioning = 50
First Touch Control Error = 60

And now I will explain the motivations.
Sprint Speed = 75: I tested the real time necessary for Mbappe to run from Box to Box (73 m) knowing that he can run 100m in 10.8 sec and it should be a little bit above 8 sec, with original settings Sprint Speed = 50 he tooked more than 10 sec.
This new setting makes the players fasters in runs, both when attacking and defending.
For example in case of counterattack, if the attacking team fails a pass or waste some time, the defending team is quick to recover.
When attacking, if a player is running to gain space the timing for the pass is short otherwise he can go offside

Acceleration = 50: I tested different values but I found that changes affect a lot the animations that look lees realistic. So I kept 50

Shot Error = 25: with 50 I have seen CPU to miss incredible shots and too often. With 25 errors are still possible but less frequent.

Shot Speed = 45: again, knowing the typical speed is about 80 km/h (of course some players can achieve higher speed) I measured the time necessary for a kicked ball to reach the goal line from different distances and I found that 50 is almost ok, I decided to slow down the shot just a little bit in order to avoid that even not skilled players can shot too fast.

Pass Speed = 25: in my opinion the pass speed is clearly too high, I found 25 a good value, normal passes are slower while fast pass are still recognizable but do not look like a gun shot.

Pass Error = 25: I decreased it to 25 as a balance of reduced Pass Speed, I think that for simulating top level teams this is a good choice but maybe, if you are playing a less technical championship, it should be increased a little bit otherwise at the end of the game you will see 90% of pass completed even when playing in 4th division.

Injury Frequency = 80
Injury Severity = 70
it is necessary to increase these values in order to make injuries to happen and to require player substitutions. Otherwise with original settings you can simulate the entire season without having a single injury. This makes also season simulation much more realistic as you have to face with more injuries in your team.

Goalkeeper ability = 15: this is maybe the most relevant change I did, with original settings keepers are extremely overpowered, in 90% of the matches the player receiving the highest score is a keeper. One key indicator I used is how many times the keeper is able to catch the ball on a corner. I stopped when I started to see some goals happening on a corner because the attacker was able to anticipate the exit of the keeper. Maybe you can grow it to 20 but, for sure, 25 is still a too high setting.

Positioning:Marking = 75: in modern football defend aggressiveness is very high at every professional level so I think that 75 can be used for any championship level and is more realistic than 50 where, too often, the defender is close to the attacker but without doing anything.

Positioning:Run Frequency = 75: this settings make the match more interesting because attackers are more active in searching space running forward but, combined with the other setting, not every run is successfull.

Positioning:Line Length = 35: in modern football to keep the 3 lines closer is one of the main tactical differences introduced and this is true for all the professional levels, so I reccommend to use it. When a team is fully positioned for defending, to find spaces is not easy.

First Touch Control Error = 60: I don't like to see all the players doing a perfect ball control when they receive a pass, I like to see some errors and, sometime, some ball missed. I found 60 allows to recognize the difference between players with good ball controls and not and make the game more realistic. Increasing more, also, the number of errors for good players becomes relevant.

I also have a cl.ini setting that I will share later.

If you mean the pointing up arrow, this is a graphical indicator of FIFA 16 that, with current implementation, I cannot control.

If you mean players with high skills value, this is intentional. In RFS there is an algorithm where the current skills of a player are affected by fatigue (decreased according to fatigue) and self-confidence (increased or decreased according to self confidence). This two factors cause short term fluctuations around the standard skill values of the player and can be, for a period, even higher than the skill values present in the database. Self confidence is affected by good or bad performance and by played matches.

@Rinaldo (The Master), first of all, congratulation for this work. This change everything about Career mode in FIFA 16.

I have a little question about this mod, can I use it with another mod, like FIFA Infinity Patch 16?

Thanks.
No, this is not a mod. It is a new managerial game that uses FIFA 16 for playing matches. You should create 2 FIFA folders, one for playing with RFS and one for playing traditional FIFA 16 and switch (rename) them

If FIFA 16 and RFS are properly installed, RFS will launch automatically FIFA 16 when needed, you have only to go in RFS Setting menu and choose Matches = "Play in FIFA 16"
