"The neutral with vested interest when it comes to Manu and Chelsea games."

What a game, what a week of soccer ..errrmm (except for the Liverpool/Middlesrough game....what a dog of a game that was, man.) Even in the later stages of the game I just felt that Chelsea had it in them to pull off the win. Boy was I gutted when Crespo sweetly rocketed that ball into the net......sheesh.

Outstanding start to the EPL season.

Help?

Just like a predicted. Wigan will lose near the end of the game 1-0. Reminded me of the West Brom-United game, where Ole scored a goal to win an undeserved game 1-0, 3 years ago.

Jenas got a straight red for THAT? :|

He got it for his trailing leg.

You can't do that. It'll will snap an ankle almost always. Happened to a friend of mine.

he got some of the ball though :p

the problem about the tackle is that the ref didnt see any of it. He saw Jenas going in, then Gilberto's reaction and so assumed red.

But to be honest, the red card, although harsh, was understandable compared to the penalty which was just crazy.

As Rusi said. According the the official Premiership site they're cracking down on challenges that endanger players' health regardless of whether they got the ball or not. That challenge could have caused a serious leg injury if it had been even a slight bit harder.

Is this the first time Wigan is playing in the main league (PL and before)?
Yep, and they're a pretty new team to boot. I heard something about 1978 somewhere...it's quite amazing they've progressed this far. They'd just better pray that they don't end up like Wimbeldon (MK Dons)!

You've gotta be kidding me. After the first ten minutes or so it was like watching a tennis match. Lobs, back and forth, back and forth.
