I'm going to agree with you regarding bad Roy selection. Defeating Moldova 0-5 was great but he could use younger players instead Lampard, Gerrard and even Terry.

Lampard will be 36, Gerrard 34, and Terry 33 for World Cup. I think Hodgson should think about a long term plan not just winning single games.

Well, I think he should play with the best team he has regardless of who will play in the actual finals or not. The most important is qualifying for now.

maybe against Ukraine but not Moldova and young lads did well likes of cleverly, oxlade, and welbeck.

Maybe he could have tried some of the young lads but the team chemistry needs to build up with the best players available.

I'm with kp here. We could have sent the U16 squad out and still beat Moldova, the group of players who are going to play in the tournament NEED international experience and practice playing together in competitive matches, not the ghosts of past failures who will be ancient by the time of 2014 poisoning the dressing room. And a 5-0 win against Moldova with the old boys on the scoresheet DOES NOT vindicate 10 years of the "golden generation's" failure. You know the likes of Gerrard, Lampard, Terry and Barry are not gonna just hang up their boots and retire gracefully, the cord should be cut now or else there will be a protracted stink in the dressing room and the media at precisely the wrong time when some or all of them are not taken to Brazil.

I really hope Lampard and Terry are dropped sometime soon, I don't like them getting so much unecessary game time. There are enough good CBs in England and JUST about MCs for them not to be picked.

Peter Crouch should play for England ... he always played well for NT and is one of those players who always shines at International level ... plus he added new tools to his arsneal ;).

when did he fail? he scored 22 in 42 matches, which is a great record based on the fact that he played as a sub in most of those matches.

The only coach who gave him real chance was Eriksson and he scored lots of goals for him.

Hang on, you can't say he always shines and then back it up by saying that he doesn't fail.

And like I said, I don't remember a single match against top opposition where he delivered. The only crucial goal I remember him scoring was against Trindidad & Tobago in 2006.
