i agree with some of that post but not entirely, firstly visit your family in melbourne and stay during the soccer season and tell lots of people follow the big clubs, there are a lot italians and greeks who couldnt give a rats ass about soccer in the Uk and only follow the italian or greek league, yes alot of people who follow soccer probly follwo the EPL and the larger clubs but i would venture to say the nearly 45-55% of people who follow soccer, at least in melbourne would be classified i guess you could say as a "wog" and only talk about the EPL for CL matches. Also no one ever said Australia would/could compete with the english league system, just like there are Australian games the english couldnt compete with.

Yes, fair enough mate- good points. :)

what I don't understand is how can there be so many teams in England if the country is so small?

In Australia there are like 13 teams (inc. one from NZ) and Australia could fit England inside it what, 20 times?!
I dont think there's many clubs in the lower leagues, that play in a town with a population lower than 100,000 people. Most of, if not all have around 300,000 in the town and only a small percentage of that is needed to go through the turnstiles each week to keep the club afloat.

Football in the lower leagues is growing in popularity all the time.

I do hope Bradford survive, the situation they are in sounds quite similar to the one we were in last season with deadlines being put back. I'm looking forward to my trip to VP hopefully, if they stay there that is.

Bradford players extend wage deferral

Bradford have bought themselves some breathing space after playing and non-playing staff agreed to extend their wage deferral.
Former chairman Gordon Gibb is hoping to take control again after proposing a new deal over ground rent.

The club's administrators, Kroll, had recently declared the club would go bankrupt if Gibb, who owns Valley Parade, did not waive the £300,000 annual fee.

'The joint administrators of Bradford City FC have agreed with playing and non-playing staff to extend the deferral of wages until Friday 16 July,' said a spokesperson for Kroll.

'The administrators would like to express their appreciation to both staff and players for agreeing to a further wage deferral, in order to allow discussions with interested parties and key stakeholders to continue.'

The Football League are now waiting for assurances that City will be able to fulfil their fixtures this season and while Gibb appears to have cleared the way by 'removing the obstacle' of ground rent, further talks with the administrators and the club's new steering committee are ongoing.
