We'll see what happens in March 2003 after the release WE series in North America. :rockman:

Konami will kick the EA's butt. (H)

But do you guys know what the best part of all is??? It's going to be reading the ignorant reviews of WE written by people who don't have the slightest iota of a clue about soccer and ask what the big deal is about this game, and how FIFA is so much better. I GUARANTEE that there are going to be articles like this, you'll see...It's sad, but true...

Yup,
I sooo agree.

Not only will it be the reviewers, but also the people who buy the game won't even have a clue to what WE6 has to offer as a true FOOTBALL game.

Hate to admit, but its Just too very sad. (:/)

But I'd be more happy when it does come out.
Had WE6, and wuz playing it with my borrowed friend's Jap PS2. But had to give it back. Now, all I'm left with is FIFA2003. I do play that every once in a while.. but nothing compares to the FOOTBALL TRIBE's football game..WE/PES..

Case in point...here's a perfect example from gamepro.com

Winning Eleven Makes U.S. Debut
05-NOV-02
Soccer fans looking for a viable alternative to EA and the FIFA juggernaut will finally have something of a choice early next year: Konami of America announced today that it plans to bring Winning Eleven, the most popular soccer game in Japan and a virtual phenomenon over in Europe, to American shores for the first time ever.
The Winning Eleven series (called Pro Evolution Soccer in Europe) has gone through six versions around the world, selling more than four million copies and beating FIFA overall for the title of best-selling soccer game worldwide. Konami releases two versions of it every year in Japan for the PS2 (and sometimes GameCube): one covering international teams, and another including teams in the J.League, Japan's national pro soccer league. It's known for being a little friendlier overall than FIFA, with a full-featured franchise mode, very good animation and an AI that Konami modestly describes as "groundbreaking."

"Soccer fans around the world have declared Winning Eleven as their favorite soccer game, said produce manager Robert Goff. "Now, North American soccer fans have a chance to see what they've been missing... Winning Eleven elevates the genre to new levels with superior visuals and exciting gameplay, setting the standard by which all others will be judged."

"friendlier"??? what the hell is this guy talking about? "very good animation"? He should have just said " Neither I or anyone in my staff knows ANY DAMN THING about this game..."

I like the konami rep's description MUCH BETTER:

"Developed by the Konami Computer Entertainment Tokyo, Inc., the critically acclaimed Winning Eleven series is widely considered to be the greatest soccer simulation to date. The Winning Eleven series is renowned for its realistic soccer gameplay, including an expanded Master League franchise mode, groundbreaking AI, striking graphics and staggeringly realistic animations"

Staggeringly realistic....much better :)

I'm counting the days until March 2003! Hell, I'm even looking forward to WTS 2003 in January!

I'm so glad I never bought FIFA 2003, I rented the PS2 version from Blockbuster, played around with it for 2 days and in the end thought "wheeew, glad I didn't waste my money on that crap!"

Which is the reason why EA won't be to bothered at all, that been, EA won't give a sh*t as Soccer isn't exactly the most best-loved sport in the US and FIFA 2003 is aimed at us European gamers, the main target for Football game sales...the reason why Konami never even thought of releasing Winning Eleven in the US until' now...for some reason?!?!?!?!?!?!!

I think FIFA 2003 is a great game. It isn't perfect but it's still a lot of fun. But, I'd like to try playing Winning Eleven 6 or PES2 since so many people rave about the more realistic gameplay.

You're right. Soccer isn't very big here in the states yet. The key word being yet. Support is definitely growing here. For a long time the US has been the "special ed" kid of the soccer world. Not anymore. I think our showing in the World Cup demonstrated how far the soccer program in the US has come.

Lol ...mouawahaha  really ?
It will take some years (like 10 or 20) for USA to
play real soccer ...Don't get me wrong but their showing in the world cup didn't convinced me at all , actually this world cup had been such a boring one ...one of the worst I've ever saw ,in terms of level and excitement ...(and that from 1982 till now)

I hear this all the time from Europeans and people from many other countries. I find it tiresome and stereotypical. I mean come on, Portugal, Spain, Italy, etc.. were knocked out. Germany barely beat the US. The only reason why some people found it boring was that "their" teams were knocked out. Boo hoo for you.

Germany is a sad, sad team (boring )... as for the others my opinion is that the referees had to make way for the asiatic team (they played at home ) and especially France had to play without their best two men (zidane and Pires) and had a lot of trouble in their team...that ' s why little teams went so high ...USA is not a bad team but surely their place in the last world cup is not significative of their true level ....(USA in the first 8 in the world ? come on even you don't believe that ****)
10-20 years====> for USA to get in the first 3 or 4 teams in the world ... not to be a descent to team !!!(that they already are)

When too many people say that you' re are drunk ... you must be drunk !!!
Same thing here , if only american think they have good soccer , and all others say they don't ...
guess who's wrong ?

I didn't say good soccer. I meant that we have improved. Imagine that, the french criticizing americans. That's an new one. France were total crap in WC2002.

So ...?
We didn 't have the best player on the pitch and we played like **** ... but for me it's an accident .
Would you say that USA is better than France ....

No, the French national team is a quality side. You're right, they didn't have Zidane and that was a big factor but you can't blame their poor showing on the lack of one player. Henry had to be frustrated with all those shots bouncing off the crossbar.

The US were lucky to make it to the quarterfinals especially since they were soundly beaten by Poland. But, you have to admit, the US looked good against Portugal, Mexico, S. Korea, and Germany.

I support my team much as you support your own. I think this discussion has strayed very far from the original thread. No hard feelings eh?
