The damned cheapo european tactics!

I just want to air my frustration over the 4-3-2-1 super defensive counter attacking mega tactic that certain CHEAPO clubs use e.g dortmund.

I have continually struggled to beat this without a superior team. I seem to have found a solution but am willing to try other tactics to combat this madness.

I use 442 defensive and set my 2 DMC's to man-marking.

leave your defence on zonal.

any other ideas?

I haven't played a team with 4-3-2-1, but 4-1-3-2 always seems to work. Most tactics with the letters 4-3-2-1 in them are good, as long as there are at least 3 in defense  ;)

Don't you mean the numbers! You should watch a seasame street episode once in a while lol

Ohh well, Never ran into a team with that formation to my knowledge. I always found that WWW2 works well

The 4-3-2-1 formation I was talking about doesn't come up as 4-3-2-1, it says something different.

I'm sure anyone who has progressed to the latter stages of champions league football will be familiar with this bum-hole of a tactic.

*Flatback 4 with fullbacks runnin up.
*THREE DMC's (YES 3!) with the side ones also running up one square.
*Then 2 supporting AMC's (you guessed it, running up)
*And one loan, seemingly unmarkable striker!!!!

look out for it, you'll see what i'm on about, small teams who use it beat big teams consistently, matches i have absolutely no influence over.

It's a real bastard of a tactic!.

I know this tactic. Guingamp used it to beat me at home to claim second place. As far as i know, there is no way to counter it and it`s really very frustrating. What pisses me is that there isn`t actually any game played when the AI uses this tactic. The match screen is empty most of the time and nothing happens and then suddenly the AI makes one organized attack and they score from it to finish off the game. I`ve tried the famous WWW1 & WWW2 against it but they didn`t work. I`ve also tried the 3-4-3 which was famous in CM3 but this also didn`t work. I think that when the AI uses this tactic then it means to say that "there is no way for u to win this match so just smile and keep it going". If anyone knows the solution for this tactic, please reply at once.

Letters/ numbers, pfft i dont give a shyt!

if ur struggling against 4-3-2-1, then use 4-3-2-1 back to them if u got the players :p. I usually have a lot of depth in my squads (i got 7 defenders rotating in my empoli squad :p) but some people don't. if not, just play around with the formations; get friendlies against 4-3-2-1 teams in the off season and see what works.

playing the freindlies are a good idea, but i think i'm too lazy for that.

heh i love friendlies.. i've taken to playing a couple of non league sides, once to get a bag of goals for my A-team and once to give my reserves a run out, then doing a tournament against some of the top class in europe called the Masters cup and maybe a tour if i have time. I usually have 8 to 10 friendlies at the start of the season and occasionally i have one when the international games are on, for my reserve team.

If i do play friendlies I play against some poor non-league teams, this is just so that my Strikers get a bit of confidence up before the season start. If they score allot, better players will try harder to make themselves better!
