The Brazilian championship is over....what a crazy year

ok, someone had to post this.

F'n corinthians are champs :kader:

last day in the season, Corinthians are 3 points in front of inter, and they both play the final day at the same time. cor, playing the 3rd place team and inter played coritiba-a team fighting relegation.

corinthians lose in the 90th minute, giving inter the chance to win the title, but inter blow it! the relegatation team won 1-0, but couldve been 2-0 had the ref not anulled their 90th minute gol...a gol which WOULDVE kept them in the first division.

So it was a cursed day on both ends of the spectrum for the Brazilian teams.

Meanwhile the last spot for the libertadores was up between fluminense and Palmeiras- WHICH HAPPEN to be playing EACHOTHER in the FINAL day of the season. Well, with that said Palmeiras came from behind twice to win it 3-2 now THEYRE in the Libertadores qualifying round.

All of this season was tarnished because of the mob scandal of match fixing due to a couple of refs...the CBF anulled 11 games, but the season kept going. IF those games had not been anulled......then Inter wouldve been the WINNER only because corinthians lost today.......

BUT nothing had changed in this crazy year because....after 42 games....

The top scorer is:

ROMARIO!! :rotl:
he's the artilheiro with 22 gols!

I just had to write a brief summary of what seemed to be a very entertaining year in Brazilian football.

yea Romario is ALMOST 40!!

all the drama isnt over because a judge ruled the the CBF cant give the the title "champion" to corinthians until everything is sorted about the 11 games....something like that

some people should stop crying, especially the inter fans... Sure, the Tinga penalty was outrageous, but they've been helped in some matches too... personally, I wouldn't like the 11 matches to be replayed, though since they did get replayed, the replay result should stand... Tevez was almost dead after playing so many matches, and it'd be quite weird to tell him all his effort was in vain... much worse than telling Giovanni, for example, that his effort during his match against Corinthians was in vain, as in that case the match was rigged

Corinthians could have made things a lot simpler if they won the match today, but it was quite a tense match, and Tevez was quite unlucky with his shot at the crossbar, it would be a great goal... also, Goias' keeper Harlei did awesomely well in the first half, with the block in Coelho's shot and rushing out at Tevez's feet.

This year's championship will go down in history as a controversial one, but I guess Corinthians' fans don't really care about it... The pigs and the bambis will always say stuff, but in the end it's just jealousy, as they too would be celebrating had they won...

anyway, Brazilian Championship XI in my opinion:
GK: Harlei (Goias)
RB: Paulo Baier (Goias)
LB: Gustavo Nery (Corinthians)
CB: Lugano (Sao Paulo)
CB: Gamarra (Palmeiras)
RM: Petkovic (Fluminense)
LM: Roger (Corinthians)
CM: Mineiro (Sao Paulo)
CM: Marcelo Mattos (Corinthians)
FC: Rafael Sobis (Inter)
FC: Tevez (Corinthians)

Special mentions to:
Jorge Vagner (Inter)
Tinga (Inter)
Marcinho (Palmeiras)
Gabriel (Fluminense)

About Romario... I don't like the guy, he's been a pain ever since the 1998 world cup when he was not included in the squad... but he keeps on scoring goals the little prick... he doesn't like to go to training, yet when it counts, he scores... I wonder how long it'll be before Bolton are interested in him...

as soon as he reaches the 1000 gol mark he'll quit....

he's got a long way if Im not mistaken..

I wonder if Ronaldo will follow in his footsteps

I hope not Romario is just hurting his legacy, but if he still loves the game he should play but i hope Ronaldo knows when its time to let things go.

" CB: Lugano (Sao Paulo)" :rockman: :rockman:

This guy is beyond awesome. His amazing performance in the 2nd leg vs. Australia (where he took on and pretty much beat the whole Aussie offence on his own <since his other 3 defenders had muscle strain from only 20 mins in the game cause of the 25 hour jet lag>.......has gotten Inter, Milan and Real madrid (And Liverpool last year) to want to buy him (Real has been after him for longer though)

Milan offered 4 million Euros and Sao Pablo turned them down and asked for 8!
(Same with Liverpool last year, they wanted Lugano but Sao pablo was like "**** off")

Im so glad for this guy. He's been ripping it in Brazil for so long. Sometimes I wonder If he was born a few miles north, he'd prob be considered a future legend in Argentina.

EDIT- I just found out he scored 2 goals today. :o wow.

When Lugano first came to Sao Paulo, he was more like a joke, as the Sao Paulo president bought him after watching a video tape and without asking the manager... but he's a quality player

Carlinhos !!! Captain and Top Scorer !!!

He played almost every game...

I hope that next year the best DM of the world will play all the matches, Javier Mascherano!!!

Romario 22 goals, he is a legend..!!!

Well, in behalf of the Corinthians supporters, I can say that I too hope Mascherano plays the next year, he's a great player, and would really boost the overall quality of the squad... he was quite unlucky with his injury...

anyway... the way Tevez is liked by the corinthians supporters is crazy... even that fugly haircut of his is copied around by the kids...

Mascherano is so awesome. He should be Argentina's #5 at the WC (Not Cambiaso) IMO

How did Ricardinho do ?

lmao at Romario :)

 Mascherano
I've been saying he should be at Real Madrid for three years now.

Ricardinho? Santos' Ricardinho? Not his best season, I suppose... he's still the smart player he's always been, though he sometimes goes missing in the matches, and with Santos going crazy by the end of the league, he too saw his football worsening... all in all, a bad season for him, though it seems clear he's still a good player
