i think totti is still not 100% since his injry in the liverpool game, and he is tentative because he doesnt wanna get it injured again, but no excuse in my mind that we lost to perugia

Roma are in a terrible shape just two weeks before season.

- are without a coach (a HUGE blow, considering the impact Prandelli has already had)

- Totti is still not recovered from injury

- Cassano looked "nervous" in Perugia game

- Dacourt picked up an injury could miss start of season

- Chivu may be out until October

- and Roma are still without the striker they desperately need.

Can you give the most likely starting elven from Roma for the next season? Do you think they can compete for the title? Thanx.

From what some of you have seen from Roma's pre-season games, how has Mexes been doing? Does he seem to be adjusting well? What has the italian media been saying about him?

I actually saw Mexes play in person 10 ft away:D(Y). Hes been playing very well overall in preseason. He looks like hell be a great player in Serie A this season.

To that guy who asked, heres romas starting eleven. Theyre likely to add a striker (hopefully Zlatan) this week as well as Taddei from Siena. Perrotta will be more withdrawn in mid than an attacking left mid. Sort of like Gattuso at Milan.

Heres the story about Voller

Roma have offered former Germany boss Rudi Voller the chance to take over as coach.

Voller is a former Roma player, and would be a high-profile appointment following the resignation of Cesare Prandelli on the eve of the new season.

Prandelli stepped down citing personal problems, and the Giallorossi board want to bring in German icon Voller.

Voller stepped down as Germany national team coach after they failed to make an impact at Euro 2004.

"I knew nothing about that what happened to Prandelli," Voller told Gazzetta dello Sport. "I am very sorry for him.

"I need time to decide [if I will take the Roma job.]

"My former club Bayer Leverkusen have offered me a role in the management team.

"I haven't decided if I want to be a coach or an official."

Roma are believed to have offered a one-year deal, with the option to move into an official's role next year.

Luis Fabiano goes for Giallorossi? Saturday 28 August, 2004
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There are strong reports that managerless Roma will officially complete their signing of Brazilian hero Luis Fabiano this evening.

The Sao Paolo centre forward has attracted interest from all of Europe’s top clubs, including Milan and Juventus, but the side that made the most attractive proposal was the Giallorossi.

According to newspapers in both countries, Roma have agreed to buy out half his contract for £3m with the option to make the move permanent at the end of the season.

Completing the deal this weekend would enable them to present the player to the fans during Sunday’s friendly game with Iran at the Stadio Olimpico.

The departure of John Carew has left them with precious few options upfront, especially as Vincenzo Montella and Marco Delvecchio are struggling with fitness problems.

looks like we are getting the striker we need, i havent really seen him play, just heard how amazing he is, i would rather have zlatan but this is definitely a close second, hopefully it falls through

Fabiano is a very good player, i just dont know how he's going to adapt. If he does adapt well to Serie A, with Totti's service he's going to do a good job.

When i heard Prandelli was leaving, right away i thought Del Neri would take over. Now, hes a great coach, but Roma just isnt the team for him, at least i think so. This team needs a 'modern' style coach, and Prandelli was perfect, but Voller is a better choice than Del Neri, so thats that.

As for Fabiano, i guess hell be the striker Roma desperately needs. Zlatan and Gilardino were everyones first choice, but Parma were reluctant to sell, and i guess they just dont have the cash for Zlatan. In the few times iv seen L.Fabiano play, ive been mildly impressed, but he is higher in pecking order for strikers at Brazil NT than Adriano is (at least before Copa America), so he has to be good.

Hey, its better than Tristan or Cruz, but its the 3rd choice.

I was hoping Del Neri would take over and show Porto what they are missing out on. Kinda like a big "F*CK YOU".

i hope he did as well. But, Roma is just not a good fit for him.

by the way, my hate for Porto grew to unchartered levels this offseason. Firing one of Italys best, for candy*ss reasons, when really they were just afraid of change, so they hired some little b*tch (Fernandez) who will do everything management tells him to.

damn right...same here man ...same here. Theres hardly a club i dislike more.

And what pissed me off more than the firing was how the Porto fans think its justified. They amount of rubbish Del Neri had to put up with is just disgraceful. If Capello wasn't in charge i'd gladly like to see him as Juve's coach for example. Thats the kind of respect we Serie A fans have for the man. And he gets fired for "arriving late" ...

They will be knocked out in round one of the CL. I can just feel it.
