I wanted Shaun to play for Arsenal in the future, but if his heart is set on going to Chelsea then let him go. Nobody wants a player who plays for you but has another team on his mind. Plenty of fish in the sea.

Yes he is, he is a top class English talent.

The market bewteen English clubs is not as open as that of Italian or Spanish clubs. Clubs don't sell top class ENGLISH talent unless it is for some price.

Not really, although you could be justifying the amount your team spent on him since you guys can afford to spend as much as possible.

SWP is a good player, although you have to wonder if he's really making the right move here. Is he going to play all the time? You guys have Duff and Robben and I don't think SWP will supplant them anytime for first team action, which points to the fact that SWP could fade like another English player you guys sold recently in Scott Parker.

21 million is insane, even if he IS a homegrown talent. Fact is for that kind of money, one could venture overseas and buy 2 quality players, 3 if you're lucky.

Interesting point you bring up, but Mourinho must have something in mind. Anyway I'm disappointed to see him move clubs so hastily when he could've had a chance to really cement his status as a world class player at next year's World Cup or this upcoming season and THEN look to move to a club where he could really further his career.

What Jose has in mind is to cripple his opponents by signing their key targets. I'm pretty sure SWP will get his fair share of playing time, but with Duff and Robben already there, where else would SWP play at? I can see him being subbed in late, but it isn't as if SWP is going to play defensive midfield.

You're right, SWP is a good player but he's not great yet. He needs to play everyday to further his career like you said. I don't know if Chelsea is the team for him to further his career. Win trophies, possibly so, but maybe not developing his talents...

I've been thinking about our chances to win the title and generally about Chelsea as a whole. Now...

Chelsea have the best team in the Premiership now, undoubtadly and arguably the best in the world. However we play them twice a year in the premiership. Arsenal's attack is more than capable of scoring against them remember even though there defense is top notch. So it is not a big ask for us to beat them if we're on form. And even if we don't beat them all will not be lost because you have to remember there are 36 other games in a season and the chances are that practically all those 36 games will be against teams worse than us, so we should be able to get 90 points out of those 36 games AT LEAST.

Basically in simple terms. It doesn't matter how good Chelsea are because it is a league 99% of the points will be earnt from the other (weaker) teams in the league. And remember everyone, even Chelsea, have off days :)

About Chelsea, I have the greatest respect for the players of Chelsea, John Terry is a suprub example of a defender he may perhaps even reach the ability of Tony Adams (he MAY). In midfield Makelele is brilliant and Cech is amazing. Also thier atitudes are brilliant. I haven't heard a single bad comment on another team by the players, something which is admirable. Terry and Lampard often praise there opponants before a big game.

However at the start of last season I thought Mourinho was a top notch manager and a great and funny guy. I still think he's a great manager but no longer is he a great guy. His manpulation of the media is very good, but he shows his weaknesses in it. Look at his recent attack on David Dein. Now he is clever enough to KNOW that DD has nothing to do with fixture lists, he's just a premierleague represntatives, one of three who are voted in by the clubs. He knew this yet he still has the cheek and audacity to accuse Arsenal of fixture fixing. What this has done is made every gullable fool who supports aclub outside Arsenal turn on us without actually knowing what Mourinho's going about. A clever ploy but very below the belt.

I like posting long posts. :)

funny thing, Ferguson backed up Mourinho yesterday, agreeing with all his accusations. Just some pre-season psychology i guess ;).

Here's a funny bit of FACT for everyone

Sir Alex Ferguson and Jose Mourinho's love-in about Arsenal's post Champions League fixture lists looks a little misguided, if figures sent in to F365 are to be believed.

We obviously lack the time or the motivation to check the figures but it seems that the Gunners have actually played a lower percentage of games away from home on the weekends following Champions League games than either of their rivals in recent years.

Ferguson said: "Mourinho's dead right, by the way. You look at the fixtures Arsenal have after European games - it has been going on for years. I've been complaining about for seven years and no-one listens to me."

But over the last seven years Arsenal have played 53% of their games at home on the weekends following Champions League fixtures, while Man United have played 54% of their games at Old Trafford and Chelsea 55% at Stamford Bridge.

The full figures are as follows...

Arsenal: Played 64 - 34 home, 30 away. Percentage: 53%
Manchester United: Played 87 - 47 home, 40 away. Percentage: 54%
Chelsea: Played 40 - 22 home, 18 away. Percentage: 55%

Those figures certainly back up our own Philip Cornwall's research last week that Chelsea played in London after all six of their Champions League group games last season, while Arsenal faced trips to Liverpool and Manchester.

Haha, and still Arsenal have to beat Man U in the league, which hasn't happened for a couple of years now. And about the off-day thing, every team will have an off-day, Chelsea had an amazing season last year, but I can't see that happening again....

Man U have to beat them aswell ;)

And about everyone hoping for an off-day, be more realistic, they had one off day last season in the league (and now they have that teams best player). Fergie recently said that to win the league now you have to go unbeaten or virtually unbeaten...

"The game has changed. We are possibly starting the Premier League saying we cannot afford to lose a game."

"Over the last two years, Chelsea and Arsenal have suffered an average of half a defeat a season," said Ferguson.

I agree, i even think Chelsea could go unbeaten this season. :nape:

However, I do believe as good a manager Mourinho is, there are other good managers in the league as well, and they will learn how to play against the Mourinho style of football, thus being able to beat them or take points off them. This happened to Wenger in his first full season, he won the double, but the season after nothing.

Spurs have just bid 14 mill for Baptista. How the hell are we getting outbid by a team that haven't made it into Europe in sooo long!?
