Man, how is Arsenal thinking of challenging United and Chelsea without Pires and Vieira  . Or you guys hope that Wenger pulls another french player out of his ass, that would sweep the whole world with his amazing talents?

who would you guys like to see arsenal replace vieira with (realistically). they need to purchase a solid experienced defender.. sol campbell aint gonna last too long IMHO.

anyway yeah they should have gotten a lot more cash for their captain.. pretty suprising to see them let him go for so little when other high profile players are commanding so much.

I really don't understand Arsenal's intentions in this move...Maybe they know something we don't, like Makelele or Graveson or someone wanting to come there?

Ballack, Assancao, Essien ( highly doubtful), Dejan stankovic, de rossi. the way i see this is that it is just a start of a new arsenal era and surely wenger must have something in mind, if he is willing to let VV go. If we manage to regain our title back next year it will be a master stroke

Well, if it's true. Then goodbye Paddy. You've been our best player consistantly for the past 5 years. You've been an inspirational captian, one of our best ever. There's no denying that. An influence on many players, Arsenal and others. You've gone down as an Arsenal legend. I hope him the best in his Juve career.

Now replacement. Hleb is NOT a Vieira replacement. He's a number 10. To put him in a box to box midfielder role would be suicidal. I'm hoping for Zebina in the Juve deal. That'd sort out the right back problem instantly. Then we could put Lauren in the middle (he was awesome there in Spain). Or we go for de Rossi. Mascherano would be a great signing, but he'd just signed for Corinthians and he seems to love it there. He's gota great attitude as well. He didn't take a holiday for 2 years for his club.

Now captaincy. Two choices. Ashley Cole (to persuade him to stay) or Thierry Henry (the new Mr. Arsenal).

IN WENGER WE TRUST!

Javier Mascherano is his name. A quality player, but not much experience. Won the Olympics with Argie last year and is definetely one to watch. If we signed him I'd definetely be chuffed.

Apparently we were going to bid for him last summer when we thought Vieira was going to Madrid, but he signed for Corinthians at some point. As usual though Chelsea come in, and again, apparently, whether it is tabloid trash or not, have already agreed a fee with Corinthians for him.

It's going to be very interesting to see how Wenger will cope with Vieira's departure. There aren't an awful lot of players with his qualities available at the moment. Wenger probably has something in mind, but I don't see what (or who) it could be...

This sucks, Diarra has signed a nw 2 year deal with Lyon so hes not gonna be available, maybe we will go for Ballack?? we better get some one who can do the job aswell as Vieira did.....and fast!!

As much as I hate lauren, I wouldn't insult him by saying that Zebina would be an upgrade to him. He's the word 'Calamity" personified, man. Terribly inconsistent, irrational, constantly picking up unnecessary cards.....in a nutshell, the dude is a total headcase on the pitch.....he's only a temporary fill at Juve, they've been looking for an upgrade for him from day one.

God I hate 'em. It would look terribly bad on our scouting staff if Zebina was the player they picked out of the entire Juve squad as a player that would be included in the transfer.

i think henry should captain, the responsibility and honor might help his consistency and mentality. im a neutral but im actually pleased with this transfer because it will bring a freshness to arsenal which will be a good thing. im looking forward to seeing who wenger brings in this summer now. selling one of your most influential players can be a good thing as it can really change the overall vibe of the team, and with wenger's skills i think it could be a change for the better for arsenal. maybe they'll win the CL this year? imagine arsenal vs. juve in the CL. that is gonna be some good ****. :jambo:

I doubt Ballack will come to Highbury after Cesc spat in his face, in last seasons CL. :-puke:

How about we make Juventus our retirement club (sort like the opposite of a feeder club), we sell our aging stars to them for a reasonable price. Vieira today, Pires, Campbell tomorrow?? The slower pace in Italy should suit our golden oldies. (6)
