If TSN thinks more highly of a dumbass "sport" such as curling to delay the champions league, then they should give up the rights to another channel that will show the games live. Maybe Sportsnet would show more respect to the Footie than the channel dedicated to the obese, chain smoking demographic of Canada (which oddly enough, is in Alberta.)

haha no doubt, Alberta is totally the Canadian equivelent of Texas. A true "red" province if there ever was one... (although Ontario can be pretty conservative too, outside of the 3-4 major cities)

Soccer (normal weekly club matches, not sure about the UCL) only draws 50-80k viewers. Curling on the other hand can draw as much as a million viewers.

It's funny how they continue to affect the marketplace on their slow march to senility.
You'll notice how marketers are aiming for a "cool" and "sexy" approach to old people's products now.

Still, I would think that some of these companies with any vision would realize that if they completely alienate the younger demographic, they are going to be in trouble. But I guess they'll cross that bridge when they burn it.

It sucks for us, but putting myself in their shoes I really can't blame guy like Guzman and Hargreaves... playing for Canada won't help their careers at all, and the way the CSA operates, I wouldn't want to be involved with them either if I had a choice
