Team Morale

Ive been with Gretna in career mode for 3 seasons now.. I rebuilt the squad in the first season, Finished 6th and won the Scottish Cup.. In my second season, i kept the same squad, but shuffled some of the younger players in and won the league..

I always give the Substitutes a run, i always renew contracts... yet the entire time i have not been able to get my morale above 42..

Its driving me completely mad... How the hell do you get the morale up?

I win things, i rotate the squad, i keep the Contracts up to date... it should have sky rocketed, as far as i can tell..

It isn't easy keeping high morale across the whole team when playing with a mid or low level club, because players that rotate in and out due to fatigue tend to be less happy, and you pretty much have to rotate your midfield and edge backs otherwise they end up playing exhausted (which is itself a catch 22 due to fatigue having a negative effect on morale). The best cure all for morale is long winning streaks (win ten games in a row and even a player that doesn't play at all during that span will remain at a stable morale level) with scoring goals a close second and high match ratings third.

I find a bigger factor in morale is salary. If you have 2 first teams players who play all the time and one earns 40K and the other 20K then the 20K player normally has 20-30 morale less. I tend to have smaller squads as sub and reservce players get to play more often. It's quiet fun if you increase the injury chance too with a smaller squad.

I've never noticed that correlation. On my teams the midfielders are generally all unhappy, no matter how much they get paid - in fact, on my Dagenham & Redbridge team the happiest midfielder is one of the lowest earners, but he does have a much higher stamina and therefore plays more often, which seems to be important.
