Tactics.

Well i designed a tactic of my own, and so far so good, played 3 friendlies with it, won all 3 with a for and against of 5-0. (Against top teams in other leagues mind you.)

The defensive half, you may have spotted from a particular downloaded tactic, which is where my inspiration came from. But the attacking half proves you dont need strikers. Just some great AM's.

Heres a screenie. Any opinions?

It's kinda hard to give an opinion as there are no with or without the ball screens and an overview shows very little. I'd be interested to see how your defence is set up without the ball as I personally concede a few too many goals for my liking. It will also be interesting to see how your tactics go over a whole season, whether you will miss having a striker after a while or if the attacking mids will continue to deliver. My first season using my own tactics was a friggin' nightmare I recall. Good luck.

sign of a good..... no.. super tactic is one that takes years to crack, or never does. Ive been using my HOME tactic for 5 yrs at home now with Valencia, sure ive changed it a bit, but it still hasnt been cracked.

Hmmm yes it is quite strong defensively my tactic, but on the attacking front it isn't. I lost a game 1-0, only to the fact i had a player sent off, and i drew 1-1 in the CL with it. Havent played too much with it yet, but am 4-2-1 in the league so far, with that 1-0 loss being my only conceeded goal in 7 games. But, ive only scored 6 myself.

What sort of things could i do to score more goals. Like with the player instructions. Any ideas?

ew, 7 total goals in 7 games? who are you managing, Inter?

my tactic's so attacking-minded... I score like 90 goals in the league, and usually concede only like 20... although sometimes I'll have games that finish with 5-3 or 4-3 or 6-2 results

Hey, when i am writing my own tactic right... I set it to the formation i want, but when i adjust the with/without ball screens, the formation on the overview section changes a little.

What should i do? Adjust the with/without ball section to where i want the players to be and leave the overview section?

IMO, the with/without ball section is more important as it is giving direct instructions as to where you want your players to be when the ball is in that area, the overview is just like a guideline so to speak of what sort of structure your players are in.

As ridiculous as it sounds, i think it could be a valid point, but then again i am interested to hear what you guys think of it.

I personally always change the with/without ball screens, mainly due to the points that you made John Arne. I think that looking at many of the 'super tactics' this has also largely been the case in their creation. On the other hand some others such as Rony here -who seems to be pretty damned good at this game- leave things 'as is' with a great amount of success. Go figure.

P.S - Rony: can you send me a copy of your tactic to try? PB8 has not worked at all with my set up, and I want to try something new. Cheers. ( [email protected] )

I tried PB8 for a while, i found it to be a great tactic, doesn't last very long before the opposition figures it out in my case. As i was progressing through Europe i had to 'tinker' with it a bit as the results weren't going my way.

Its a great tactic if you are the strongest team in your division, but i don't think i'd recommend it if you are playing a team with equal strength or a team that is a little stronger than you.

I only use PB8 once in a while... maybe 5 times a season? which is why it hasn't been cracked yet... my tactic hasn't been cracked either

Lol. Thanks Rony. No I won't hate you. I have found very few tactics that work across the board anyway as the strength of players in different areas can have an effect between two teams.

It will probably be a while until I use it anyway as I have just developed a new tactic which is working fantastically so far, meaning that I now have two very successful tactics which I can alternate. So far with the new one I am 11 games into the domestic season with 11 wins and unbeaten in all competitions so far. It's very attack minded, averaging about 15 shots per game on target and has only two defenders used. I have used the 'without ball' screen extensively to drag the midfield players back to help defend when needed.

...Both of my current tactics have worked very well for me, but I make NO promises. PB8 for example seems to be widely acclaimed but I failed to win in any of the 5 games in which I tried it, so you never know.
