Striker crisis

This is the wrath of using a lone striker..........

After using Shearer for the past couple of years, I've decided to give the youngsters more first team action......

Do I opt for:

Michael Chopra (9 goals last season)
Shola Ameobi (never got a shot at footy last year but I know he's class)

or

Alan Shearer.

Personally, I reckon Chopra and Ameobi should rotate with Shearer occasionally warming the bench. The problem is that Shearer is such a big player that I can't really leave him out often. Michael Chopra and Ameobi are both at that age when they want a lot of first team action.

I guess squad rotation will have to do. It's worked for my 3 left-backs (Bernard, Quinn, Elliott) so I don't see why I can't pull it off with my 3 main strikers.

Thoughts welcome, like.

Firstly, what year are you in?

Alan Shearer is fantastic, but if you wanna build for the future then do that, dont worry if you have to do a bit of both. Having Shearer on the bench 'just in case' is a perfectly good idea, Sheares proffesionalism is likely to be so high it wont matter.

TROD.

Yeah, Shearer will do just about anything so leaving him on the bench and giving the young lads a run is fine.
I would also make a point of using them whenever you are in 'pole position.' By this I mean if you are three-nil up in a Champions League or League Cup first leg, then let the young guys have a start in the second leg. Also if you are say, two-nil up in a league game with fifteen minutes left bring one of them on. In short, the more gametime they get, the better they are likely to develop IMO. :)

2003/4 is the season I'm in. Shearer just got World Player of the Year (oops!) and I have a 17 year-old super-striker thats suddenly looking good. Carl Cort can go.

Of course he is. I always scout for regens.

Didn't you say though that you were in the 2003/2004 season? Does the game start spitting them out that early then? Any tips on spotting them?
