strategy change?

How can you change the strategy to offensive or else?

if you are playing with keyboard-
use "numpad 2,4,6,8" for attacking tactics
and Q+"numpad 2,4,6,8" for defensive tactics
and numpad 5 for changing the mentality.
up arrow-attacking
down arrow-defensive
no arrow-neutral
and attacking and defensive tactics are given in the tactics help in the game.

6-wing play etc

Anyone know how to adjust the mentality whilst using a gamepad ? (On the PC). The manual only gives keyboard info. I am able to change strategy ok, but am not able to change mentality Thanks...
Am using a Saitek 880 gamepad btw which is supported.
