They better not still be working on protection code...
Wot an absolute waste of time it would be, not to mention an insult to all those that forked out the money for the game and being made to wait SOOOOOOOOO long without any indication as to a true release date, simply to add something to the patch that is totally useless.
This waiting is getting beyond a joke, and the silence is becoming insulting.
Alot people are getting pissed off here, I just hope the developers, particularly the management, realise this.
They better not still be working on protection code...

I don't think there is any software that is uncrackable. There is nothing much the software companies can do about it. Maybe Jon's team might create the first uncrackable CD protection? 
The best way to make your software/games sell, is either: convinced customers that the software/games is really good/fun. Or: Trick customers like Ea sports.

I've talked to a programming teacher last week, and he said that each month programming a CD protection takes one more hour for a craker to disable...

hang on a sec. if infogrames were to release a patch with no cd protection on there, then you would all be able to play the game with no bugs on your pirated versions...infogrames could lose a lot of money on it and then they would have to fire people and then they would probably never make another good soccer game again. and we would be stuck with fifa for all time!
also, when we dont hear from them it is obvious that they are probably doing stuff on the patch. I for one whould rather hear from them when they have finished the patch and i DEFINATELY works

They already had some copy protection on there. The issue is that its suposedly too easy to crack.
I'm not saying NO copy protection, I'm saying there's no point spending 2-3 WEEKS trying to improve existing copy protection, and thus make paying customers wait to get NECESSARY bug fixes and gameplay enhancements.
All their magic efforts to improve the copy protection are in vain anyway, since if a hacker wants to crack it, it will be cracked, no matter what they do. So extra weeks trying to IMPROVE on it is wasted.
And no, not hearing anything for close to a week is NOT a good thing.
It takes less than 5 minutes in a day to leave a simple update message on the boards to let us know what's going on. Not doing so just shows a lack of respect for paying customers and any other interested gamers.
Very disappointing.

Hi, long time listener first time caller, I am one of the artists on UC... I will try and see whats happening on UC patch, thing is though, Steve Robinson is such a good programmer that he is in constant demand to look at this, check this out(etc)meaning he is is very busy. when i find out whats happening i'll get Jon to post the info here or i'll do it myself. I too am a tad disapointed that you guys are soo pissed off at us. Lets try and put that right

i havent seen the patch in action im afraid...i could ask around our QA guys see if any of them have been using it and what they reckon... in any case you'll be able to see for yourself soon

I ain't pissed off, and I know many of us doesn't. However, I am anxious too, checking the website everyday. I hope everyone knows that at least the UC guys took their time to post. Where's the fifa guys?
