Amid all the expected speculation around the why's and wherefores of Stevie being made Captain. It occurs to me that maybe the boss is simply trying to remove any unecessary pressure on Sami so he can concentrate on getting his own game in order. Nothing more sinister than that.

I don't think someone can be handed the physical responsibility of captaincy of a team when his own form is not up to scratch. We've lacked any sort of leadership since Gary Mac left us and we've really had no one to turn to when playing poorly. Stevie G hasn't stepped up to that level yet but imo the captaincy is something that will help him make that next step.

Then again, stripping Sami of the captaincy might simply be to make it easier to drop Hyypia if necessary but I don't think so. I'm hoping that the transfer of the armband will act as a catalyst for both players. Firstly for Sami to regain his old form, simply as a player. And secondly helping Stevie to make that final step.
