Make America Great Again

whats up with this taking over trend. it has become something of a fashion statement.

It's only a trend as far as foreign owners are concerned. I can only think of one major American sports franchise that is not majority owned by a rich businessman. Soccer is becoming a more global game, and in America the English Premier League is the gold standard, so buying an English league club is basically just like buying an NFL franchise, except it is probably cheaper.

I don't see any downside to something like this, Fulham isn't selling itself out for short term success, they have a long term plan under their billionaire. There's nothing wrong here because the only one to take a hit when a single owner is willing to assume the financial risk is the owner. No jeopardy of administration, and a new source of revenue for the club. The Saints could vastly improve their youth facilities and worldwide image with the new money, even if they don't buy any new players. That's great for their club. And frankly, I don't see Allen being like Abramovic, he'll be more like Glazer. He's in the business to make money, so he won't buy a new $30M toy every year, but the best way to make money is seeing the club succeed.
