ok, i'm doing a science project for school. the assignment is to make a periodic table of whatever you want. I'm doing a periodic table of soccer teams. I've got a lot of it down so far but i'm having trouble with one thing that i just found out about. ALL the metals have to share something in common, and all the NON metals have to share something in common.

I've included a link to my project (i'm doing it on photoshop)

I've put serie A teams in the first column in order: Juventus, Ac milan, inter, roma and lazio.

The next coloumn i put: Real madrid, barcelona, valencia and villareal.

I haven't done the transition metals yet, on coulumn 14 i put Monaco, Lyon, marseille and auxerre.

on row 15 i put PAOK, Panathainakos, AEK Athens, and Olympiakos.

On row 16 i put bayern munich, bayer leverkusen, borrisia dortmund and verder bremen.

On the final row i put Man united, Chelsea, Arsenal, liverpool and newcastle.

As you probably have fuigred out, each team in a family (coulumn) belongs to its respective league (and it has to stay that way)

the first 2 columns have to have something in common with each other, and they do. all of the teams have brasilians on their teams. (ie, ronaldo, emmerson, dida ect.)

All the teams where the mettaloids are have at least one player who as won either the world cup or the euro 2004.

( i still have to fuigre out at least 2 more patterns)

my problem is that i just realized that all the metals have to have something in common and all the nonmetals have to have something in common. (like in the real periodic table.) I cant think of what though.
this is where i need help.

You may be wondering why the periodic table looks so small, i dont have to do elements after number 54

thank you for any help that you give me. (if there is any help to be given)

Considering different properties such as density, reactivity etc increase as you go down certain groups........you could put them in the current league table order (H) .....or will that mess up yer brasilian thing?

well my main problem is that i have to make sure all the metals have something in common (juve, and madrd groups, i'm thinking of putting south american teams for transition metals)
and all the nonmetals have to have something in common.

i was going to do the metals had all the teams below 55 degrees lattitude but stupid milan and the greek teams screwed that up.

do you sorta get what i'm saying?

and thanks for the help.

league champions/common finishes last year in the same period

leagues in the same league

metals: european

non-metals: sth american

i think that should work

the problem is that i already have most of the pattern down.
i cant switch it up as you are suggesting italianstyle.

when you have the .psd document open go to File>Save As then save it as *filename*.jpeg

then attach it in a post or host it at www.imageshack.us

wait a sec.......Group's 1 & 2 are quite closely related....so i think you should put teams of a certain same league there(with the stronger teams in the 1st Group & weaker in the 2nd). Btw hydrogen isnt really in Group 1.......itz just put there so that the whole thing looks good. Premier League are so not suited as Group 18(cmon....the EPL is so lively while the noble gasses are so dead:rolleyes: ). Btw are you just doing the 1st 5 periods or are you doing the whole thing?

i'm just doing it to element 54. I included epl last because it had the most spaces after the first family. I can also do as you suggested and put juve as its own pattern.

And i put seperate leagues in group 1 and 2 because i'm required to have a different pattern corresponding to each of the groups. ( group 1 is italian teams, 2 is spanish)

i still dont know what to do about the similarities between the metals and the similarities of the non metals.

Ok fair enough. Hmm........why dont you use non European clubs for the metals. I mean that will show that they are different.:rockman:

thats a good idea, but what do i do about the mettaloids, i was going to make them teams with players who have won a major tournament since the turn of the century (world cup 2002 and euro 2004)

i guess i could possibly do copa america, but i'm not sure how i'm going to incorperate it... But thats a good idea for a last resort.
thanks!

ok, i've decided to move the italian teams and the spanish teams to the other side of the table.

I'm going to have all european teams as nonmetals and all non european teams as metals.

does this mean that the mettaloids are something else? like japanese teams? Or can i continue to keep the mettaloids as they are?

Let me tell you what my rubric says. (i'm having a hard time interpreting it): The more paterns you can duplicate from the real periodic table within your table the better. For example the division between metals and nonmetals or the reactivity of elements. YOU NEED TO HAVE A DIVISION SIMILAR TO THE METALS VS. NON METALS plus 3 additional patterns.

I'm assuming that means the mettaloids are something else, but like you, i'm having a hard time understanding the rubric/directions...;)

ok, this is what i have so far.

as you can see its a bit different than the first one i posted.

juventus is in a category all by itself.

the family under marseille is no longer the french league, but is now teams that come from french speaking nations. same thing with real madrid and barcelona.

its starting to fit together nicely.

(the extra images around the outside are probably going to get erased)
