Some suggestions to EA Sports

Hi folks,
This year EA Sports decide to give a step forward with the Fifa series.
Great graphics (finally), live updates, 10 vs 10 mode, mouse control,...
I only played a hour, but unfortunatly some things still the same.
I know we only have the demo so far, but I'm pretty sure that the
final game will be the same thing.

What I'm talking about. First of all:
1 - "Minikits"
One of the things that a dislike is the home/away kit selection.
First of all that minikit template is simply horrible. But
I still don't understand why we can only see half of the minikit.
Why?!?! See the screen1 (screen1 link) and, in my opinion, it would be more
attractive if we can see the entire minikit, don't you think?
There are a lot of empty space that can be filled with. But
instead of that they filled all the screen with widgets...
For God sake...
And when we select the "Winter" mode,
then the minikit could change and appears with long sleeves (see
screen2). I know that will be more complicated to do because each home/
away kit would have 2 minikits template. But I think it will be more
realistic for the game.
And they could show also the shorts on the kit selection (just a suggestion).

2 - "Team Kits"
How many kits each team can have?
Let me see... Home, away, Goal Keeper and Third, that's 4 kits.
Why only four? How many of you, wanted to play with your
prefered team in Champions League? In european competitions, the kits
are diferent from the league. Won't be great if we can select the
desired kit for the competition we play in career mode.
Won't be great if we can chose between 5 ou 6 kits? Don't forget
that some teams have 2 home kits, sometimes the diference is only on
the short color (last season Inter had 2 home kits, one with white
shorts and another with black shorts).

3 - "Referee Kits"
I would be also great if we could associate the referee kits for each
league. For example, I want to play in the italien Serie A league and
the referee should wear the Serie A referee kit. If I play another
league, the kit should be diferent.
And I hope this year, when I play with a team which use a black kit,
the referee use a diferent colored kit! Or if I play with Sweden home
kit, the referee should use a kit that isn't yellow. To avoid any
confusion on the pitch.

4 - "Font Numbers"
Since this year, some National Teams use 3 kind of numbers on the kits.
For example, Germany National team use:
- Black Number on the shirt's back
- White Number on the shirt's front
- White Number on the shorts
Unfortunatly, on Fifa you can't have more than 1 font number on the shirt.
I think it must have another field on the "TeamKits" table for the
"JerseyFrontNumberColorID".

5 - "Captain Armband"
I really hope, that Outsider can make another captain armband patch
this year. Because, those white armbands on the demo... no comments.

Sorry for being too negativist, but the game has also good things!!!
I'm still a Fifa fan. It's just my point of view.
I don't know if anybody agrees with me or not.
I really hope the EA Sports guys can make some of those small changes to
turn the game better and not just another Fifa... maybe on Fifa2010.

I completely agree with you in everything.
About the minikits it could be like the euro2008 game where after you select the team you choose the minikit and you see it completely.

I think the menus needs a reform. I also don´t like the stadiums background in the team selection menu.

I woould divide the menus like this:
first just team selection with only the logos. No minikits,stadiums etc.
Then after click in advance you will see a screen where you can configure the game. You can choose the stadium, the weather conditions and the minikits. May be add the possibility to choose ball and referee also.

Also i think they should include an option to disable the widgets and see the menu in full size.

Id be happy if we finally had a realistic goalkeeper, not a blind retarded one.

A few things i would like to see -

For the lower division matches, why does the crowd sound the same as the big major matches? That kinda ruins the atmosphere for me. Id love to take a club from a few hundred spectators in the first season all the way upto several 10s of thousands a few seasons later. A visual refection in the stands would be nice too.

Speaking of crowds. Id love to see a less static looking crowd. Maybe a little more realistic looking too.

In create a club. It would be nice if you had more then the option just to change badge. Id love to see the ability to add a sponsor and a kit supplier to the kit also. (I know they would be generic names but the community can mod that on later).

Infact come to think of it, a small set of official editing tools would be nice. So when you expand your stadium you can select a wing on the stadium to expand and see it visually (on unofficial stadiums of course).


Final comment. Is it more or does the turf in the demo look somewhat... crap.

Another thing that would be great is a stadium creator like in FifaManager.

A 4 player-manager mode would be fantastic.
Shouldn't be a too hard task, FIFA Manager features this already a couple of years and its manager mode is at least 5 times more complex.

I almost forgot, I really hope we can add accessories to the referrees (like the microphone and earphone). In almost all leagues, they use these comunication accessories.
Let's see on the final Fifa09 if the referees can use that......

I think annual FIFA series could have extra options on UEFA series(CL, Euro)

on PC Version none of those things matter and aren't problems. except different color number on front of kit.

what i wan for console version of FIFA is RETRO teams. and or retro kits you can unlock.like 98/99 man u etc. that would be amazing.

For me too none of those things is important. The gameplay is the most important and the issues most important to me have always been not being able to player switch untill the ball is recieved when the opposition plays the ball in the air to the wings, and the player switching when you are defending it lags or seems to restrict you from the best defender till its too late, and also when you do player switch the player is still runs through a script where he busts a gut to get out of position. I would like the controlled player to immediately take on what you are doing with the controller.
