Some early observations about FIFA 11 PC

Hello,

I bought FIFA 11 on 360 but I didn't like the gameplay changes. It was too fast, too easy to make tackles, and overall it just didn't have the flow of FIFA South Africa.

So I decided to give FIFA 11 PC a shot. I just bought it and played a few games and here are some of my observations:

1) Lag: I had lag with vertical sync on but once I turned it off, the game ran very smooth (with some screen tearing which is to be expected). I'm running it on Windows 7 64 bit (not on compatibility mode.

2) Gameplay: Feels very similar to FIFA WC South Africa. I did see some animations I haven't seen before. But overall the experience is almost identical to South Africa. Note: the menu is from FIFA 2010 and there's no new penalty engine nor the GK mode.

IMHO FIFA 11 PC and FIFA WC South Africa play better than FIFA 11 console.

3) Controls: I used the Xbox 360 controller and it worked fine. I felt the control was very responsive (not jerky), much more so than it was on Xbox 360.

4) Graphics: the game looks wonderful coming from the console. But on some angles the lighting is a bit dark.


I think that's it. I wasn't able to try any advanced modes yet. Frankly, I'm pleasantly surprised at this release and it's good to see FIFA back on PC with most of the belts and whistles of the console version. Hopefully all the modders are able to make this game even better.

Interesting. Could you please elaborate on why you think the PC gameplay is superior to that of the consoles? I'm curious to know your opinion as to how the pro passing and personality plus features translate into actual gameplay.

As for my opinion, I've always been a PC gamer and the last FIFA game I played 'properly' was FIFA 2004. It has been PES all along after that (since PES3) until now; Now, FIFA 11 has thoroughly blown me over and I simply have not been able to put my analog controller down the two days since I got the game. I played PES 2011 demo and thought it was a wonderful game but sadly, that feeling of wonder only lasted until I started playing FIFA 11 demo.

I still haven't forgiven EA for the way they treated us PC gamers over the last six years but FIFA 11 surely helps lessen the anger.

I wouldn't say it's better, but it's certainly not worse. PP/P+ don't make a huge amount of difference to me.

In Fifa 11 PC, the number one annoyance is the time you're given on the ball - the AI pressure is too much. I found setting the game on slow seems to help, and learn to use the shield button a lot.

I gotta agree - the PC version this years plays AND looks so much better than its console counterparts.

I do agree with the fact that Fifa 11 (console) has the new features but the gameplay just doesn't feel right. Maybe this is because I played Fifa South Africa too much. But 11 gives me the impression that the AI plays very defensively and this affects negatively the flow of the game. But the biggest problem for me is the how easy it is to make tackles. Granted I don't play Fifa on the hardest settings and I don't play online that much. But I'm having more fun with Fifa South Africa / 11 PC.

However, EA should be ashamed of giving us a PC version basically stripped of features and options. 11 PC is really the interface of 10 console combined the gameplay of South Africa. More efforts should've been made on EA's part.

I gotta agree - the PC version this years plays AND looks so much better than its console counterparts.

For the first time in MANY years, yes, finally the PC version is just as good, if not better, than the console version

fifa 11 pc rocks but i am playing with keyboard and there is a bad bug which is really disturbing my mind i cant enter controller settings i really looking forward for the fix for this.otherwise its truly the best football game on pc
