In Australia the marketing was what killed Dr Pepper. People didn't know what to expect, and we don't have much at all over here using that artificial cherry/almond (think Amaretto and you'll know what I mean) flavour. One of the famous things flavoured with that chemical (it's the one chemical for both cherry and almond) is children's cough syrup.

So without knowing what to expect, loads of people thought DP tasted like cough syrup.

We didn't grow up with Dr Pepper either, it was launched new in the nineties, and failed miserably as it was a shock to the system for those expecting a cola sort of flavour.

They still make cherry coke in the US because we get the imported cans here. Dr Pepper is better.

And it's not cough syrup, it's artificial cherry/almond. They use the same chemical to flavour cough syrup, to make kids like it more.

Grape soda is great, but something else we only get here in import.

We get our own Cherry coke, which is pretty nice.

I have also tried that Guarana drink, which is one of the most artificial things I have ever tasted!

Generally speaking I detest local soft drinks....

This Peruvian drink is the second worst thing I have ever tasted:

And this Scottish drink is so vile I cant swallow it:

That looks like straight piss in a bottle if I didn't know better.

And probably just a Texas thing, but sweet tea is awesome!

Believe it or not, both of those products outsell Coca Cola in their domestic markets. Irn Bru is the only product IN THE WORLD to outsell Coca Cola which is not owned by Coca Cola.

I like Ice Tea (same as sweet tea?) too, over here I think it's a French thing, certainly that's where I saw it first then it started appearing here. The best one however hasnt made it over the channel (Lipton's Raspberry (Framboise) Ice Tea) so it is always a big perk of going to France.

I used to love Lipton's raspberry tea but it's pretty common. Iced tea and sweet tea are basically the same thing, except it's without lime. To me the taste of lime completely kills the taste.

Is sweet tea the one in those big Arizona cans? If so I remember finding that too sickly, so I guess I have got used to the cut of lime.

Liptons and Nestea are all that's available here really and not in many flavours, we need to do some catching up.

Yeah, but Arizona's is extremely sweet. Plus it's not natural.

This is though:

I drink Lipton Brisk (lots of it) but only the Lemon flavor, there is a lemonade as well as a sweet tea flavor but their tastes don't appeal to me.
