Q: The question that everyone wants to know: How will you respond to the challenge by Real Madrid's owner PolishPower??

In reference to the challenge from our arch-rivals that reside in the sewer, I mean, madrid (Freudian slip

) Barcelona will accept. Maybe a home-and-home series, or if they want, we can come to the Bernabeu and beat them there. Either is possibility and alright with myself and the team. After that, a match up with any other team that feels like experiencing a loss will be more than welcome to provide a practice squad to enrich their lives. Maybe ManU or AC Milan.

Q: What about early problems of chemistry?

I feel that the management and myself have developed an outstandingly deep and talented squad. Problems of chemistry may be an early problem, but because of the talented personnel and the consummate professionals that we have, I believe that those problems will not last very long.

Q: Are you happy with the roster?

We have been approached with a myriad of trades. I am more than happy with the players we have selected and I believe that a trade now would hurt the team. It would have to depend on the offer and the principals involved on our side.

Q: What of questions that Real Madrid will garner unfair support from the referees?

I would that the referees in charge of our league will have the professionalism to officiate the game on a neutral basis. We have experienced blatant referee error and bias throughout our history, but unlike our Spanish counterparts, we do not need it. Barca win as a team, and lose as a team. We do not need excuses or bribery to win our trophies.

DO YOU HAVE ANY FRIENDLIES PLANNED?

"I would like to have friendlies against two clubs. It would be great if our rivals, Liverpool, would be up to a friendly. We'd also like to take on Club Nacional. Hopefully these clubs will accept my offer. There is still one slot free so we will accept the offer from the first club to challenge Spurs to a friendly."

WHO WILL CAPTAIN SPURS?

"There are so many great players on this team and choosing just one of them to captain, is very difficult. I would love to give the captain's armband to Les Ferdinand or Dragan Stojkovic, but they're not expected to start. We want an experienced captain and if I had to name one player as our skipper today, it would be either Edgar Davids or Cafu. That isn't final and the captain could very well end up not being Davids or Cafu."

HOW DO YOU THINK SPURS WILL DO IN THE LEAGUE?

"This is an incredibly strong league and I don't want to guarantee anything to the fans out there. We don't want to set our goals to high but I think that fifth place is reasonable enough. It won't be easy though but we're lucky to have such a strong squad with great backups."

ARE YOU CONSIDERING ANY TRADES?

"There are two players I'd really like to bring to Tottenham, Sol Campbell and Stephane Henchoz. We are currently in the process of negotiating possible trades."

Q. What do you feel about your squad and working as manager of LFC.

A. I'm very pleased with my squad we have a group of quality individuals and some very good footballers. I'm also very proud to be managing my boyhood favourites Liverpool, and the Chairmen and the Board of Directors have been very supportive and co-operative of my efforts.


Q. What are your expectations for the upcomming season?

A. We are hoping for a place in the top half of the table.


Q. Aren't those expectations rather low???

A. No, there is a great deal of parity in this league - go ahead and show me a team that has a weak midfield, or attack, or defence. Injuries, luck, and tactical savvy will play a huge part in this Super League and I don't want to give my board and our supporters false expectations.


Q. How will you keep such a large squad happy and who will be your captain.

A. I intend to have a full squad rotation policy going, and I have outline two complete squads that will be able to compete, and we have several leaders on this team. As such I have outline three players who will serve as captains throughout the season; Patrick Viera, Lillian Thuram, and Robbie Fowler.

Q. Who do you think will win the league, and who do you tip to be stars?

A. I think the league title will go to either the Metrostars or United, and I think Riquelme, Cannovaro, Crespo and our very own Martin Palermo will be the biggest stars this season.


Q. Do you have any plans for the pre-season?

A. I have agreed for us to play a pre-season friendly against Spurs who are managed my friend Simmonius, and I hope to organize a friendly with Snake Eyez's Vitesse.
