having recently been involved in one of the world championships - it star5ted me thinking
how many seperate Football world championships are there?
Not just in the professional arena, but going into amateur levels.
the list which I am aware of is:
Fifa World Cup ( every 4 years)
Fifa World for people with learning difficulties (held annually)
IGLFA World Championships ( gay and lesbian world cup - held annually)
Additonally - does anyone knowanything about these competitions - e.g who the current holders are, when / where the next tournament is being held.
I'm trying to find out just how far knowledge of these tournaments spreads outside of the immediate local community
for instance - those of you who know me ( or remember me) will probbaly have guessed that it was the IGLFA WC which I have taken part in - this year it was held in London - and attended by teams from the USA, Australia, Ireland, Argentina, Mexico..... yet the competion got very little media coverage outside of the gay press. The standard of football is extrenly high for an amateur competion, and i think that these lower level competions really need to get more of the coverage - people are travelling thousands of miules off there own expenses - purely because they love the game.
