Soccer Is Ruining America

Honestly, I don't understand why anyone would a) post the link to that article or b) click on it. Great way to give the tool who wrote it more publicity.

People on soccer forums are all getting riled up, when the simplest and most effective strategy for dealing with this drivel is IGNORING it.

agreed ......while we're on that topic: I still wish that american football ...was not called football ...... just wish it had a better, more appropriate name......

That's purely down to personal preference.

Personally, I couldn't care less if the name of a sport(any sport) is horse-puppy-towel. If I find it interesting to watch, that would be all that matters. Something as shallow as a name is not going to deter me from following/liking a specific sport. People, who "claim" to be sports fans, who bring up issues like the-name-of-that-sport-sucks aren't really followers of that sport and don't like what they don't know about.

What I do, when such a conversation comes up(in a group involving these asinine swines) is interrupt them and continue the conversation with those who are infact knowledgeable about the sport. It puts the peasant mules back in their place and makes them feel very small indeed - which is precisely what these arseticklers really are. It is a very good strategy and is as effective a verbal punch to the jaw as they are deserving of.

so basically you are saying that because I said "i enjoy the sport [of american football], just wish it had a better, more appropriate name, or more specifically one that was not already taken up" that makes me "shallow", an "asinine swine", not "knowledgeable about the sport", a "peasant mule", and an "arsetickler"? haha, wow ... clearly your exposure to intellectual society has been limited, and unfortunately your exposure to pub crawling ignoramuses has instilled in you a base-level aggression that is most unbecoming ...

You didn't get the attempt at humor which, now that I go back and read the post again, I must admit was not as well thought through as it could've been.

that guy is a college professor? wow...

how does such an ignorant fool end up writing for the liberal media? isn't that a complete contradiction?

University of Chicago PhD... in theology.

Incidentally, when I get my Political Science PhD I plan on writing about nothing but molecular biology, postmodern art and interpretive dance.

So that's why the economy is in the crapper...

seriously, too many "experts" had no clue what they were talking about or dealing with.

What i find disturbing is that someone could write 10+ pages of complete crap and make it sound like he knows what he's talking about.

STEPHEN H. WEBB, thats his name. People like him are dangerous. They could tell people any sort of crap, make up hoards of **** to back it up and people follow him.

That's what gov't's do. So that's the blue side to a democracy (I think it's more of a virtual democracy/corporate fascism but don't wanna get into that here). You gotta give and take and if you don't like someone's opinion then move on.

But the worse thing is that his arguments are awful for a uni prof, I'd get a D if I wrote something like this. If he'd said soccer is boring then it would have more credit than his paragraphs...when you don't know about something, the more you write about it, the more apparent it becomes that you're ignorant to it.
