Smash Court 2 vs. Top Spin

Paco de Lucia

Youth Team
Anyone with both consoles own or have experience with both titles? How do they compare gameplay wise?

I have Smash Court 2 but it really doesn't look and "feel" like it should IMO. I've briefly played a Top Spin demo and gameplay feels much better, not to mention that it looks better.

Top Spin is online, and you can play in tournaments and play against people from around the world, so just on that fact alone Top Spin owns Smash Court Tennis.

Out of obscure interest, is Smash Court Tennis a bastard step-child of the SNES classic, Smash Tennis?

Played some Smash Tennis today. I'm.... not too great at it.

Nah, 'Super Tennis' on the Super Nintendo. I got that game back in 1992, and played it for hours at a time- great fun. You can download it on the Internet, and also an emulator to play it on...

Have you ever played Athlete Kings (Sega Saturn)- that game was brilliant! Okay, it isn't tennis, but it's a class sport simulation.

Ohhhh yeh I have that version, I didn't think it was any good. The best retro tennis game I think is Pete Sampras/Pete Sampras'96. No i haven't played athlete kings mate.

Anyway mate download this: http://www.zbattle.net/ , it let's you play SNES roms online with/against people. I play ISS Deluxe with my mate and we have done world cups on the same team too(H)

I'll definitely look into that mate, thanks. I used to play Neo Geo 'Capcom Vs Street Fighter' etc. online via Kaillera. I used to be into emulation in a big way, going back to 1999, with the N64 (UltraHLE) and MAME...

Yeah. I mean, Super Tennis is nice but you can't really get the rallies going as well as they do in Smash Tennis.

That's true. Super Tennis certainly set (pun intended) the standard for console tennis games. I played a sad tennis game on the Megadrive once (mid nineties), but I can't remember the name of it. One of the crappy players was called 'Delgado' or something. The commentary was dire too...

Yeah, that's right- thanks! I only borrowed it for a week though, and then only played against the machine...
